just having a few problems with the length of our caravan which is 8.25! If I was to use a hard standing 8x5 meters why can I not just over hang the caravan over the grass so the hitch wasn't in the road?

This is its full length including a frame and not its body length which is under 7m "Adria Adora Izonzo 613dt"

You can/should be able to. If you are planning to visit a site where the limit is 8m, give the warden a call beforehand. 8m may only refer to their smallest pitch.

What problems have you had. Have you been refused a pitch?

    Hi

The max outfit length if using a club site is displayed in the handbook or web pages. This refers to the longest available pitch on that site. You go by the shipping length ie from the hitch to the rearlights. As has been mentioned, a call to the warden with
any queries should help you out.

Usually you can, and we do, as I don't like the hitch right up to the road. However, on some pitches there are fences, trees or even EHU's that prevent this. Ours also has the toilet access on the back, so this is a limiting factor when putting it against
    an obstruction.

Thank you for your help. We visited the Southport site today and the lovely warden explained ways around this problem and most of the time it just takes a phone call to the warden to arrange a slightly larger pitch if it was available. Haven't been refused a pitch yet but we were a little concerned.

I would let the wardens know in advance so that they can reserve a pitch if there is a potential problem.

Nice looking van. Must be the biggest single axle van available.   I can't see any reason not to over hang the pitch at the back Plenty of t/a's must have the same problem.

Our Hymer 546 S is 8 metre LOA, with door forward of axle. I often need to place it with the rear just over the hardstanding onto the grass. Or the few occassions when it used to be mandated hitch end in with its long "A" frame over the grass. Mine has never
been an issue [8 years], yours at 10" more is IMO most unlikely to be an issue.
