Alde heating and anti freeze

Looking at the Aldi radiators, they look very flimsy, probably to keep weight down,so i would think as stated on their QA website the two year change of antifreeze is probably to make sure it has maximum corrosion protection,
and why does the hot water system need flushing out every couple of months? from QA again

According to my handbook it is approx every month, to ensure a new air cushion is formed in the heater. This is essential for absorbing pressure surges in the heater. Not a problem for us as the most we have spent in one place is 21 days and we always empty it before moving.

The heat exchangers are not flimsy, all they are is the same 22mm pipe used throughout but with push on fins added.
You can or could buy the pipe and fins separately to make up your own heat exchangers if you wanted to.
A very clever simple system that works.

Re corrosion, my concerns would be for the aluminium burner tube abutting the stainless steel of the boiler casing, ably assisted by the copper in the brass of the autovent valve; so electro potentially dissimilar metals with electrical continuity, ideal for trouble, really expensive trouble relative to the rad tubes. [The latter being electrically isolated probably feel little distress]
However no problem at all if using the right corrosion inhibitors working within their life span.

The Aldi website advises that the boilers require no maintainance,
Yes quite correct. The boiler does not require maintenance but the vender of the system has to specify the servicing requirements for the systems the boiler is used in.
We of course have our boilers fitted in a system.
See; http://www.alde.co.uk/faq.php
The statement Alde UK make is:
"Servicing
Alde 3010 Compact boiler has no service requirement, but an installation will have service intervals set by the vendor, based on their system design and antifreeze solution, and relevant legislation".
I would expect similar wording will apply to the next generation 3020 boilers.

Hi All,
I am in the process of ordering a new Lunat van and have emailed them to ask what antifreeze comes with new van. Answer, 2 year and email states they are not able to put in the 5 year antifreeze,( CRBBird please note).
My comment is this is crazy, why not put in 5 year!!!

Just to clarify one thing antifreeze in the aldi heating has an inibitor which is not a rust inibitor as we think, what it does is stop air bubbles forming on hot surfaces and imploding due to pressure in the system, you can buy a test kit to check the
strength of the inibitor in the system, my caravan is 4y old and the inibitor is still at 90%.0 -
