Caravan Repairs
Bought my van new in 2013 and had 2 years trouble free use. Three months ago I misjudged an awkward entrance and clipped the gatepost. The damage is minor but needs to be repaired. Been waiting 3 months first for an estimate now for parts.......is this normal
service these days? Two weeks ago had a trip to a CC site connected electricity as usual but my Dometic fridge would not power up, panel is dead then noticed an LED light strip still glowing when switched off............any suggestions fuses are ok of course.

Is your caravan still under Guarantee? If so, the dealer has to sort out your electrical problems. A 3 month wait for an estimate is unacceptable: again back to dealer to read the riot act! Is your Insurance Company involved? If, so a chase to them
is called for.0 -
The van is still under warranty I think, the fridge is covered by a three year guarantee. I'm actually using an approved workshop which is a lot easier to get to than the dealer where I bought the van. They have done the services and stamped the book etc
so I went to them for this job. First time Ive needed anything like this.0 -
Geneste. It may be more convenient to use an approved workshop, but in law your contract is with the dealer not the manufacturer or a workshop approved or not, so any failures should be addressed to him. In the case of your fridge it will probably be better to check with the manufacturer who may have an agent near you - let them do the spade work. Have you checked to ensure that a body repair done other than by the dealer will retain your water ingress guarantee? Insurance?

I started to get the feeling that they didnt want the job even though I had previously had good service from the workshop. I contacted another approved centre they were very responsive at first then nothing. Insurance has approved the repair. I think I will
take previous advice and get the fridge checked by a Dometic agent separately.0
