Caravan alarms

When they introduced the S3.
I had an alarm retrofitted by my Bailey dealer as I don't like the "cover" offered by Tracker retreive which only swings into action when you tell Tracker that the van has been stolen. At this point I doubt I want it found and returned!

I wonder if anyone else like us who ordered the caravan at the end of a very long day at the NEC assumed that an alarm was standard, especially as it had been on our previous pegasus. I was also stupid enough to think that retrieve was better than monitor.
I wish someone had pointed the features of monitor before we signed. Still, we now have the van and the smell of new caravan is very seductive. We look forward to a number of damp free years with this one!0 -
Thank you, does this count as factory fitted by insurance companies? If not I think we might fit our own as my hubby is qualified.
It might depend on your insurance company but it is unlikely they would view it as "factory fitted". I insure with the CC and all they wanted to know was that one was fitted (didn't ask what make) and then they gave me 10% off the premium which covered the
lost 10% when I cancelled the Tracker - so cost neutral.0 -
I too had the Tracker Monitor plus alarm fitted when we bought our new Barcelona in December 2014, realising that the Retreive system was a waste of space and that there was no alarm fitted. It was fitted by a national company who attended at the dealership
prior to us collecting the van. My insurance company (Saga) didn't query anything when I told them what was fitted and by whom, and gave me the discount. Presumably, they were happy that if I'd been less than truthful, they would have a 'get-out' clause
if it ever got stolen.0 -
Our latest caravan bought new in December comes with an alarm & a free 12 months Tracker subscription, however I shall not renew it at the end of the free period, as the £99 per year cost only gets me a £60 discount on insurance - and i would not really
want the van back if it were stolen.0 -

True, Wildwood, but I think my Tracker Monitor came as a package with an integral alarm. When you set the alarm, it also arms the Tracker system. I also paid £199 through the Club discount to get lifetime subscription to Tracker.

Same with us, setting the alarm arms the tracker. Also took out the discounted lifetime subscription.
