Solid / Foam Fill Tyre Solution?
Has anyone solved this problem.
I have to store my van very tightly to a nasty spiky thorn hedge on one side which prevents access to the whole of the offside. When I had a flat on that side a couple of weeks ago I realised the major palaver involved in extracting it without being able
to use the motor mover as it is extremely difficult to attach the car to it in that location. It struck me that if I could overwinter by using a solid rubber wheel or fill an old tyre with something to make it solid on that side then I could avoid the issue
completely.
Any idea if this is possible? A search on the internet has not yielded anything useful yet.

I can't help with where to get one, but wouldn't any solid tyre have to deform enough to allow the motor mover to engage? Not sure what would happen if it came up against a solid object on one side and a normal deformable tyre on the other.

Another possible solution is to get a motor mover that attaches to the hitch. There are two types, one is called Mr Shifta which has a 50mm towball on the top and you simply hitch the caravan to it, it has it's own battery and would be easier to manouvre
your caravan than with the car. The second type is called Bigfoot caravan mover. You would have to remove your jockey wheel and fasten it in that position. You might be able to buy one of these second hand and use it if you had a puncture to get the van
out. A quick search on the internet will find pictures of them.0 -
Orroroo, your risk of getting a thorn in the tyre, probably from the hedge is not an 'over winter' issue, the risk is there every time you get the van out or you put it away. I am sure you don't want to jack the van up and change a wheel every time you move the van, that would put you off caravanning. All you can do is check the ground very carefully each time.

Can I recommend a pair of secateurs?

do NOT put foam into your tyre, if you have a punture the tyre fitters will condem it, they wont repait it and you will have to buy a new tyre
