I think that is the same as the one we have, the whole seat and lid assembly just clips on and off.

Could the holding clips be broken?

It will pop off if you sit on the lid.

    See Thetford parts list pdf

Yes, it justs pops on and pops off, you do need to use a little force, well ours does. We were a bit concerned a few years ago as Mrs Admiral wanted to give it a good clean, so when we were at the NEC Show we went onto the Thetford Stand and siscussed it
with them and they demonstrated and we were surprised at the amount of force it needed to come away

Yes, it does need a good pull to remove it, we take ours off every so often to clean as it is very difficult to get into all the small crevices, a poor design from that point of view.

Mrs K says it must have been designed by a man!

She uses a cotton bud in the crevices.

Like someone else, we only discovered that the seat and lid pops off (or rather has to be tugged off) at the Thetford stand at the NEC.  Prior to that I used Mrs KjellNN's method of cleaning in the crevices.  But elsewhere there are plenty of mentions of it popping off if the lid is used as a seat.

I had a prompt answer from Thetford when I emailed about our fridge.  If you haven't had any help from them then perhaps have a word with your local caravan dealer. The men in our local dealer's service department are a font of knowledge and usually only too pleased to be able to help.
