We have just placed an order for a new Venus 570/ 4 with transverse fixed bed.  My wife is concerned about the mattress comfort as she has a hip replacement.  In our current van we use duvalay mattress toppers and we wonder if we need one for the Venus.
Is there anyone out there with a Venus who has an opinion on bed comfort?

Like all beds it is a matter of opinion. I can only say take the topper and see how things are without it and use it if needed.

I think the bed is the same as the Quasar and to us is reasonably firm.

I know what she feels like I'm waiting for the same op, I would have thought singles would have been better, I have recently looked at vans and found getting round the bottom of a transverse bed difficult

Q, is it possible to try one at the dealer....or even the upcoming NEC show....

did you lie on the bed prior to ordering.....test for size as well as comfort.....

    from the lunar web page....

bed size (why does the uk van market make them so short??).....1.830 x 1.340 (6'0" x 4'5") thats not a very long bed at all....slightly shorter than in our Bolero, which was 'just about long enough' for me at 5' 9" .....current van bed 2.00 mtrs.

if i had any concern about bed suitability Id be testing it out.

are you moving to a fixed bed for the first time? if so, it should be miles more comfy than a 'make up' sofa bed, bit, of you are taller than me id be looking bery closely at the lack of bed length...

Thanks for helpful replies.  Yes we did lie on the bed and it feels all right.  However, a few minutes on the bed is not the sam as a night of sleep.  So much of this is individual and personal preference.  My wife and I have shared a bed for 50 years -
next May - and my wife says she has no intention of stopping sleeping with me now!  In fact we have tried sleeping singly in our two berth but it just does not work for us.  We looked carefully at al the options and decided the transverse bed is the best of
them all.  In our opinion there is plenty of space to get round the end of the bed and into the bathroom but we can see that it may be difficult for some folk who migh be larger than either of us.

Write your comments here...Really helpful, thanks.  No the bed length is no problem for either of us and is plenty wide enough as well.

Hi, did you get the new venus 570/4 yet, I have one on order for June delivery and wondered what your initial thoughts were of the van

We have just bought an Elddis Affinity 554 with a transverse bed. In 'day mode' it was the best we have seen for space. In 'night mode' there seems to be a variation depending on how far the bed is pulled forward. At its full stretch the frame is almost
touching the Alde heating vent and cannot be shimmied round ( we are 2 slim people!), but you can adjust it slightly.

Write your comments here...initial thoughts are that is is flimsy.  Three shelves need to be resecured by dealer under warranty.  The fixed bed is not very comfortable and is too high therefore awkward to get in to particularly from the bathroom side. We
have to use a memory topper which makes the bed very high.

We've just returned from 2 week trip in our Venus 570/4 - very comfortable although the different space use with the fixed bed takes a wee bit of getting used to {our first f/b}. Some of the fittings are a bit flimsy but nothing serious - a few loose screws.

One item I query is how to stop the bed springing up when travelling over the first bump in the road - more often the ramp on leaving a site.  Any suggestions?

We too have found that the bed springs up in transit but generally it doesn't happen with bedding and pillows on it but always happens without a load on it.  Ours is currently at the dealer having the several warranty issues seen to.  The worst of these
is the leaking mixer tap in the shower room.  The dealer told us that ours is the 6th new Lunar they have had with that problem so far this year.  The other warranty issues are all the result of poorly fitted flimsy shelving.  The dealer is also fitting extra
spot lights for us at the front.  We cannot understand why Lunar did not supply these as you cannot sit with your feet up and see to read.

We leave the bedding on as well - but up it pops. Trying to find some easily fixed clip to hold it down on the chassis

Yep - we asked for the same lights to be fitted before taking delivery

We asked for the lights before delivery but Lunar failed to supply them and then sent the wrong lights. Have you asked the dealer about the bed springing up?
