TV booster on site

Hello can anyone help me we have just got new caravan with external tv ariel point when on site with booster sytems in the elecric bollards we used to just run coax through window straight into back of tv. Can we now run coax to external point and plug in
there and then use ariel sockets inside caravan or do we have to disconect anything inside caravan on the status amplifier any help much appriciated.

    Inside your van you should have a  fitted double coax connector on the caravan instrument cluster,one should go to your roof fitted antenna via a signal booster,the other should be wired to your external connector.There should also be a threaded Sky connector
    in the van ,possibly at the side of the two coax connectors.When using the external source you should connect a fly lead from the TV to the coax socket inside which is wired to the external box and thence to the bollard.Outside it is generally the left hand
    side which is the terrestrial TV feed and the right hand side is for a Sky connection.Generally but not always mind.If both are threaded then ( irritatingly)you need to nip down to Maplins and get an adaptor which threads onto the terrestrial feed in and onto
    which you can connect the lead from the bollard.If the lid on the external box will not close down you may need to make another very  short fly lead from the adaptor because two plugs together can be too long to allow the lid to close over them both.Hope this

    Yes, if it's like mine,  just get a good quality coax cable 20m long and the appropriate ends and the jobs done. Some I believe can use the external socket to feed a TV in the awning too if using the roof top aerial. Sometimes, folk have said it is best to put the cable through the window and then directly into the TV, mind when using the sites bollard. Some vans may be wired differently to mine mind!

    Write your comments here...Do you mean you should have 2 ariel points inside your caravan we have one in the bedroom part and one on the front window sill should there be another one that doesnt go to the antenna but goes to the external box

    Maybe I have not been clear enough.You are describing two points which feed a signal to your TV if you plug it in at the front or the back of the van,correct?Those sockets will be fed a signal by your roof mounted aerial via a booster.However if you also
    have had a professionally fitted external socket into which you will plug your 20m lead to the bollard then you will also have a means of plugging in your TV to that signal inside the caravan.That is why I have two female TV sockets inside the van on the instrument
    panel into which I can plug the fly lead from the TV.One (A)will give me a signal from the roof aerial.If that signal is too poor and I have a bollard connection available on site then I connect up to the bollard outside and then plug the coax from my TV into
    the alternative female socket (B )inside the van which supplies a signal to the TV from the site's aerial which is connected to my van by the 20m cable plugged into the bollard.A only supplies a signal from the roof aerial and B only supplies a signal from
    the cable to the site aerial  outside.

    Hi on mine I plug lead from bollard into external socket unplug roof aerial lead from status booster box in cupboard and plug in lead from external socket into booster box turn on booster box this then feeds all my tv points. Hope this helps.

    Write your comments here...Sorry for been a bit dim but think i got what you mean now I will have a look next time we go away it is a status 550 ariel and has like a panel with two leads tv1 tv2 then input lead from ariel and then one spare cable think that might be from the external feed will try again when we go away

    Hi on mine I plug lead from bollard into external socket unplug roof aerial lead from status booster box in cupboard and plug in lead from external socket into booster box turn on booster box this then feeds all my tv points. Hope this helps.

    I got fed up with problems with our outside feed, so disconected it where it enters the van and screwed on a separate bit of coax, which feeds up through the fixed bed to where we place the TV. No problems now, roof aerial works fine through the booster
    on the original socket. Whilst  external pre boosted feeds work, without any interference, on my new cable.

    on the original socket. Whilst  external pre boosted feeds work, without any interference, on my new cable.

    That's what I found, a totally independant feed from the site booster system seems to work better.

    I have always had to bring the coaxial cable in through a window as nearly all the vans we have had with an external socket (in battery box never work)

    I always put the cable through the window in to the back of the TV, the less connections the better

    Our external socket is for using a tv in the awning. If we use the hook up I disconnect the roof aerial feed (INPUT) on the Svenson booster and unscrew the feed to the external point and reconnect it to the input then the 2 tv points in the van can be used

    We would just put the ariel through the window but our new van has the consertina blinds that pull up from the bottom so carnt really do that anymore as blinds get in way anyway think i know what to do know thanks to everyone for your help.
