First Service and Damp Report
Feeling a bit P****d off our Stirling Eccles SE just been in for its 1st Service from new .... one or two issues that the dealer was putting right for us. But our main concern is that when they carried out the "Damp Test" part of the Caravan was 40% Damp.
They say it could be coming in via the front side locker, so the have sent the report and order to Swift but have said it could be April or May before they get the OK to proceed with the work. Is this the norm ?????

I am afraid so. Point out to the dealer that you have legsl rights against them and require it repaired now or you will reject it as not fit for purpose and demand your money back. Might be worth a word with the clubs legal helpline who will help you on
the subject.You also have roghts against the finance company if bought on HP or any credit card provided if used for any part of the purchase.

Afraid there is a time limit in which to reject goods as unfit for purpose and you may have passed that. However, don't be fobbed off by the dealer your contract is with him not Stirling; he must repair it and then he can take it up with Stirling. Take
a firm line and see what the Club's legal dept say. If you paid £100 or over in this deal using a CREDIT Card the card company would also be involved and it may be useful to talk to them. But if it takes 4 - 5 months I would be really hacked off and be

Friends of ours also had high damp readings in a 2yr old Sterling Eccles Lux, 2013 Model. They waited about 3 months before they were told that it could be repaired. Their high reading,s were around the 3 front windows area,s. The seals were all removed,
new inner panel then re-sealed again. Yes it was done under Swift Warranty, but it is the time that it takes to get it all sorted out.0 -

Write your comments here...better than it came out of the factory, doesn't say very much for their quality control or production techniques does it ? I would be VERY annoyed.
They are taking us for mugs. SMART ! I think not.

Another great example of Smart HT build quality eh XTrailman???....such a shame for the owners who I feel heartily sorry for.

Write your comments here...Yes having had 3 repairs for damp in my alutech to the wood floor, now dry for the last three year (5 years old) I wouldn't wish damp on anyone.
Fact is with Smart HT any ingress will not damage the walls or floor, not something that to my knowledge any other caravan maker can claim.
Fact is the OP does not have a Smart HT, but perhaps a smart, which still contains wood in the walls and floor, along with the roof. Ok its now hardwood ply, but it will still absorb water.

Sorry to hear about your problems DandL but at least Swift have a goodnreputation for correcting issues. I have been one of the lucky ones and our 2 year old Swift Celebration (dealer special Challenger Sport) has just had its second service with a clean
bill of health with no damp.0
