Mould on Carpets
Just went to check on things in the van. All OK except there seem to be a few spots of mould appearing on the carpet. Hopefully nothing that's going to spread if dealt with quickly. Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it?

I think you can get anti mould sprays for carpets. I wonder if the humid weather through December has caused a few problems in vans, our fridge didn't look too good before we went away, I thought I'd cleaned it out very carefully but there were tiny mould

Certainley up here the damp weather is a problem, ventilation alone wont do. I've got the heaters running, and the van is outside, not undercover as I would normally have it.
moulesy, I would take the carpet out and air it. Use some of that mould spary brue suggests. I would give the van a good going over. Its worth it to stop mould spreading, which it will do in the right conditions, and the conditions have been just about perfect recently.
PS. One of those carpet cleaners like a vax are ideal.

If its just in a few isolated spits it could be where you have spilled a drop of something. We had a similar thing with our van, we used Dr beckmans carpet and upholstery cleaner cost 3.50 comes with a brush built into bottle and worked a dream

I steam clean out carpets when we get back from a long trip. Bring them into the house and then leave to dry for a couple of days, roll them up and put them away with all the other bits and bobs we bring in. As we are not using it this month because its
at the dealers the spare bedroom is full of the cushions and carpets.0 -
ISTM that the season you definitely not want carpets is when it is more likely to be wet and muddy i.e winter - just wear slippers or extra thick socks to keep your feet warm

you're probably right.....i only put them in this winter to 'see what they were like....(new van)....i also have a couple of runners for protection...
we have double floors with underfloor heating so no need for socks...... just wanted to get a cosier feel.....will probably not bother next winter.....
Did the underfloor heating come as standard BB, or is it something you have had retrofitted?

Aldi have Dr Beckman's carpet cleaner on special buys at £2.69 from 14th January. Could be worth buying some to try it on the mould spots.

My only experience of mould has been on curtains, rather than carpets. It didn’t seem to matter what treatment we gave it, we couldn’t rid the black specks.
Mould needs moisture to form and spread, so keep things well-ventilated and dry. Cold corners will be most susceptible to moisture.
