Dealer Visit
Well we were going to Moreton today, but the high winds down here in Wiltshire put us off towing with a new car that we hadn't had any experience with. Different story if the Defender was still here but it wasn't.
Anyway we went to Swindon Caravans to get a 2nd look at the Brindisi we have on order. Delivery now appears to be going to be mid March (an awful long time).
While we were there we made the mistake of looking at the new Swift Elite 560, quite a lot more money but undoubtedly worth the extra. My question is has anyone ordered one, has anyone got one already? If you are awaiting on what are the latest dates for
delivery?

It's not always due to delays at the manufacturers. I ordered my caravan in February at the NEC. I now know for a fact that my Lunar was completed and signed off at the factory on 26th October 2014 but the dealer that I bought from said that the earliest
possible delivery would be mid April 2015. He admitted, when pressed, that it was they, the dealers, who had too much work on to be able to deliver earlier. Being cynical, was this delay because I bought the 'van at a discounted price and therefore priority
was given to those customers paying more?0 -

Write your comments here...Or are the dealer hoping to use it for display first? as i understand that with c/vans & m/vans that most dealers now have to pay up front before delivery,

The whole caravan supply chain Mfg. and Dealers needs a shakeup I would not have purchased a caravan with hindsght after my experiance with Swift and Perthshire Caravans and especialy from what I have read in this forum and Swifts owners forum.
Whilst my situation is very minor and I have a perfectly good van the way I was treated after forking out for a new one soured my enjoyment of ownership and I will never buy again till this shoddy treatment of owners is fixed.
Both the dealers and the manufacturers seem to be able to get away with other than a major problem. It is just not good enough.

delivery was huge. I do get the impression that their delivery service is just not good enough. If they got out caravans ordered and in stock quicker then it might do their cash flow a power of good.0 -

Write your comments here... In this instance I don't believe it had been on display. There was far too much manufacturing debris left in the 'van, (it had obviously not been cleaned properly, if at all, during 'PDI'), and there were many manufacturers stickers
still on things like the microwave and the cooker. Cash flow problem may have been a cause of the delay if they do, indeed, have to pay up front.0 -
Well in principle we've swapped our order over to a Stirling Elite 560. Just need to see if Black Horse will honour the low rate finance deal from whe we ordered during the show so we hope to hear back on that tomorrow. Latest on the Brindisi is it will be built 21st March, so it now looks like an April delivery date.
