Today I phoned Santander. Same thing as before I needed to sort an appointment out at the local branch to talk about my mums accounts. It could not have been more different than my dealings with HSBC. No need to prove who I was just to make an appointment.
Told me what I needed to bring, appointment made for two days time, a whole hour set aside, all in the space of 10 minutes. As long as the appointment goes as smoothly I will be well pleased.

We've recently opened an account with Santander and I agree, I was very impressed with the whole customer service thing at our branch.

Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Have to say that the reason I was retired from a bank was because I refused to 'sell' products like PPI, Insurance, Pension Mortgages etc.

Yes - I told HO where to go but they told me instead to B----- Off.

Guess I am the one laughing now as they have been paying my pension for the past 20 yrs,  and history has now proved me to be right vis the various scandals.

My lot did me a package 22 years ago, just before the 'brush salesman' stuff really got going. My ambition is to be on pension as long as I worked for them. Another fourteen to go. None of them seem to know how to do 'proper' banking these days, balance
sheets, cashflows, risk assessment, decent lending control. They are just sales assistants.
