TV gaffs!
Have noticed a couple of gaffs, or clangers in recent TV shows and wondered if anyone else spotted them.
Poldark! The latest episode shown on Sunday depicted Ross Poldark embarked on a lovely white sailing boat en route to a meeting on the Scillies. The boat he was on was shown sailing gracefully out of Falmouth and indeed it was a lovely wide angled shot. - Until that is, I saw another sailing boat in the forground also moving slowly but fast enough to leave a slight wake, however she had no sails up, - her masts were bare. I thought Poldark was set in times long before ships had engines!
Piece of Cake! This war time series is being repeated and I missed the first run so watched it this time. Amused to see the Heroes taking off in Squadron strength with several different marks of Spitfires in use. Must have been hell for the mechanics. None of the aircraft carried Squadron markings on the fuselage which must have made identifying each other very difficult! Also many of the aircraft shown had four bladed props which were not introduced until much later in the war when the Spitfire was fitted with the RR Griffon engine instead of the Merlin!
Anyone else spotted some gaffs? The British battleship Barham torpedoed by U331in the Med just off Egypt. Her magazines blew up spectacularly and the tragedy was graphically recorded on film. The film itself has been shown so many times in various documentaries often in the 1st world war at Jutland, in the 2nd world war during the battle of the Atlantic, and also at Pearl Harbour. Definatly an unlucky ship, she must have been sunk in at least six different locations!

In poldark a few weeks ago, there was rather a large white Burglar alarm box on the outside of a house in Turo I think it was, and on the beach scene there was a modern day water bottle upright on the sand L O L

A recent (ish) two parter about the Great Train Robbery showed the gang outside Leatherslade Farm, on the wall there was a flue from a modern combi boiler, also showed the judge using a gavel, quite a common gaff
Life on Mars (set in the 70s) featured modern aircon units on the outside of buildings

Car chases usually show up some gaffs. One minute the car has damage to eg OSF wing, next shot it's ok and next shot it's back again.
You'll all be watching closely now. LOL0 -

I understand where you are coming from but some of those gaffs are so basic and used as a major intro to a scene, as to be unacceptable. i.e Spitfires being scrambled with no Squadron markings, and an intro of a Battle of Britain scramble showing a four
bladed prop - in 1940!Director should be shot!

The trouble is, the availability of Spitfires these days are such that you can't afford to be picky.
