What's in a name ??
On TV the female reading the weather is generally referred to as "The Weather Girl" ---- BUT---- when a male reads the weather he is referred to as "The Weather Man"
Now that we are in the age of equality, should there not be gender equality in descriptive names. ?
If they are to say "The weather Girl", then her male colleague should correctly be referred to as "The Weather Boy".
Conversely if they refer to "The Weather Man" his female colleague should correctly be referred to as "The Weather Woman" .
I don't see why women should be treated as less important or mature than their male colleagues.

On our TV you can only see them from the waist up ,so they could be wearing nothing from the waist down
In the early days of television (one word - part Greek and part Latin) the male reader of the news was required to wear a dinner jacket and a black tie. Apparently as lower down behind the desk was never shown they could attire themselves as the felt best - and a tevevision studio was a very hot place.
When things became more relaxed and less formal a black tie was kept below the desk in case of breaking news during the broadcast of a royal demise. No recorded nonsense then, and they still got the weather wrong.

), but I fail to see how inviting folk to post on what they might consider to be "PC gone mad" and which will inevitably lead to the sort of disagreeable posting seen in the past, can in any way be classed as showing a sense of humour or inducing a good laugh. Still, that's just the way I see things - others will surely think differently (as, of course, they are perfectly entitled to do!)0 -
