Have ruled out Nunnykirk as it is all grass as far as I can make out. River Breamish was where we were headed last year, but do not want to end up on grass.....arriving half way through school holidays......plus may be too expensive as Easter, so considering
a CL.I was just wondering about your route, as you said that you'd be travelling down the A74 to Carlisle and then onto Scotch Corner. You'd have to be doubling back to get to Northumberland. You could use the A69 to Newcastle or keep going south on the M6 and
then across on the A66 Wouldn't it be better looking for a site in Co.Durham, or N.Yorkshire, somewhere just off the A1.Yes, you are quite correct, I better get the map out!!
OH had suggested Whitby, so I was no doubt looking at that, and thinking of the most direct route to Harwich.
For Northumberland we would need to go via Edinburgh, then down the A1, or cut across through the Borders, but roads there are not so good.

Been trying to plan our long trip starting in April, unfortunately we will leave home in the middle of the school Easter break, so full facility sites will be busy and expensive.
Looking at CLs or no facility CC sites, and working backwards from Harwich. Have booked Brookcroft near Harwich, now looking at 2 other areas to explore on our way there. Route will basically be down the 74 past Carlisle then over to join the A1 at Scotch
Corner. Past Peterborough we take the A14 then the M11.Thinking Northumberland as first stop. Need EHU and hardstanding, wifi would be a bonus, but not essential. Not near a busy road either.
Will grass be in use on CC sites in April?
Bit stuck on our second stop.
Why not try Englethwaite Hall for 1st stop, or will that be too close to home. Slapestone Villa at Penrith is another possibility H/S but no wifi. You could then use the A66 to get over to Scotch Corner. Very popular site so would need to book early. Wonder

Well today I cancelled the Sky contract that I took out yesterday. Should have done more homework first

appears that the new Q boxes that you get are not compatible with the satellite dish on the M/H (LNB bit) its a special LNB for the new boxes, so you can't take the box with you and the sting in the tale it appears that you can't pair it with a Sky+ box either.
Sky are getting very clever with it all but they've just lost a customer and I doubt we will be the only one.Freezing fog has not lifted here all day but when I went just 7 miles down into Perth to collect Mum it was sunny and freezing.
TG, what a bummer....
cant really offer any help other than possibly buying a 2nd hand HD box from ebay and the. getting sky to send ypu a viewing card with your choice of package.....

We've already got a Sky+ box with a freeview card, spoke to Sky today got the run around, one minute yes that's fine Sir we can upgrade you I will pass you onto my colleague, so you want to upgrade to a Q box, er no thanks just want to upgrade my package.....oh
but we have a deal on the Q box half price bundle....... yes but I don't want a Q box quite happy with my HD+ box thanks, can I just upgrade my bundle...... I think you get the drift. Long story short yes you can upgrade but you have to take out a new contract
for 12mths and there are no offers on just an upgrade of bundle, so full price and it will cost £25 for a new viewing card. Needless to say we told them no thanks. We will think about it nearer the time as we don't want it until next September. OH has looked
at getting another HD box and pairing them like you do, if we do decide to go down that route, he is looking at other things aswell. Quick question do you need to have a twin LNB for your setup, we are having a dish fitted soon and not sure if we actually
need one.just another thought....
you could still go for the new (cheaper) install with skyQ at home. they will need to change the LNB at home. you will get a nice new viewing card.
put the older sky+ in the van, this should work with your existing dish, move new card to old box and pair it up when you go away.
just re-pair when you get back.
cleverly, the main sky box can also record shows while you are away even though the card has been removed...
this surprised me, but it has worked for us with all the 'home' channels this year. ok we have only been away for a couple of weeks at a time, perhaps on a longer stay more 'checks' are carried out on the box?? dont know, but it works
re: the twin LNB. the short answer is yes, you need one if you want to be able to record one channel and watch another.
it is possible to do this (in a limited way) with a single LNB but its a bit complicated and not worth the effort.
if youre having a new dish AND you will be using some sort of twin tuner recording box in the van, go for a twin LNB.
however, remember that that older Sky+ box wont/cant provide a recording and live pause function etc, unless it has a valid viewing card.

a CL.Write your comments here...Low Hedgely cl site is just up the road from river breamish (opposite road to breamish valley) all pitches are gravel and grass with EHU and water at each pitch, the grass is like a bowling green site is immaculate 1 toilet thats
so clean you'd think it was never used,very friendly and helpfull owner too, lovely walks along river and around the lakes directly off site another shorter walk around the old railway0 -
It's a busy morning this morning. We got up early, had breakfast and we got to the bank by 09:30 to bank the cash from the weekend's business in Goring. There was some problem with the traffic on Titnore Lane which delayed us a little. After that we drove to the dentist in Grand Avenue, once again delayed due to road works. Nevertheless, we have now arrived at the dentist for my wife's appointment at 10:30 with the hygienist and my appointment at 11 a.m. So now half an hour wait!

Community Manager....definitely suggests the cards from older boxes can be moved into the new SkyQ box.....and vice versa?
back OT...have to pop out to get new contact lenses (for golf) and smart new specs (for driving)....might just be easing off a little...

We went on an organised trip a few years ago. Certainly worth it. I believe we booked very early summer or earlier. I would add that it was great using an organised tour as it is in the country so country roads, of poarking but shows timed to be able to
give plenty of performances so they are busy. Nice to be able to enjoy sitting back for the entire day out0 -

Torrential rain to start the day here. But dogs are dogs nd have to be walked - first time this autumn in full waterproof gear and wellies.
It did bring back memories of out first Setter - Zac - some 30 odd years ago now. If it was raining we'd all get togged up to go out but could you budge him from the doorstep? No way. Iron bladder that boy - could go the whole day without needing to step

Arrived at Chapel Lane, Birmingham this afternoon for 3 nights. Only 45 minutes from home, but we decided to come ant way - one reason is that I have an appointment at Birmingham Dental Hospital at 9am tomorrow morning and it's only about 20 minutes from
Chapel Lane but about 90 minutes plus during the rush hour from home across city with the possibility of traffic hold ups through the city.David
I've just renamed the Chapel Lane Site. I'm now calling it Chapel Rain....

When we upgraded from sky+HD to Q we had a new card , the enginer said there was something different in the "chip",you only have a card for the main box as the mulitiroom box's use wi-fi from the main box

Just shows that you are never too old to learn. In the past I have been a keen diy'er and tackled some pretty ambitious projects. More inclined now to pay someone else!!! I went out to see how he was getting one and he was using the back of the saw to get a straight edge. Why had I never thought of that!!! He told me also that most saws have a molding to allow a 45 degree angle to be drawn across a piece of wood for cutting. So at 70 I can still learn, providing of course I can remember it!!!

We went on an organised trip a few years ago. Certainly worth it. I believe we booked very early summer or earlier. I would add that it was great using an organised tour as it is in the country so country roads, of poarking but shows timed to be able to
give plenty of performances so they are busy. Nice to be able to enjoy sitting back for the entire day out...We went last year as part of an organised coach tour ,we stayed in hotel in Great Yarmouth ,there were 12 other coaches there on day we went ,from as far away as Cornwall and Scotland well worth the trip

Our local U3A run a coach trip every year but it gets booked up very quickly. I really must get sorted out and get us on it one year.

I think the M11 was suggested by my route planner, but I will be looking closely at the plan once we have decided exactly where to stop on the way. Thanks for the sugeation, we are not familiar with that part of the country.

I'm impressed and feel your pain. My OH fully conversant with internet and has been since the beginning but refuses to learn online banking. I have just had 'the conversation' with him again . Its his credit card bill that I was paying!!!! If it didn't
cost so much in interest I'd leave it to him, but I can't watch others take his hard earned pension, that's my right0 -

You're missing out on a lovely area . May I suggest you allow a few days on the way out or return to explore? I'm a girl from Essex NOT an Essex girl. We have a very long coastline and diverse county.

Raining and grey here again. I have already been more productive this morning than we were yesterday. We acted like teenagers yesterday, got up late, ate ready meals and read, played on internet and watched TV. Do I feel guilty NO!
Off out shortly to top up bird food now they've started to return to our feeders.
