Blue sky and sunny here too, this morning. We've just had breakfast. I need to go the bank this morning and then it will be time to pack up and get ready for our departure.
We need to be off before 12 noon.You certainly do, Malcolm!

We also found out that we weren't lucky with next year's seasonal pitch application, so on to the waiting list!

Thats it for this season - put the bag over the van and drove away. Next venture - catch the big white bird to the Caribbean in a fortnights time, then to a gite in France over the New Year with friends and skiing in Italian Alps in January. Another year
done and dusted.

Spent a lovely day yesterday with both our sons, proper family Sunday lunch!
Managed to get them to sort through all the stuff they left when they moved out, so today it's a trip to the charity shop with everything they didn't want to keep.

Had a great evening last night. Son played a gig with his Irish Folk Group called Darragh Folk (he plays double bass) . As it was in their local pub 8 year old grand-daughter was asked to play her penny whistle with them for the first half hour or so. It
was great to see them playing together. I then nipped her back home to mummy and went back for the rest of the evening. An amazing (very Irish) night. Great fun.Very jealous of you Millie. I just love proper Irish Music. Has your son's group any of their music on line?

Darragh Folk do have some of their music online apparently either on myspace or bandmine. Also a few clips on youtube. They also made a few CDs but they are only available at their live gigs. This was all done a while ago though and doesn't inlcude our son
as he has only been with them for a year. It's difficult for them to find time to make CDs etc as they all have 'day jobs'.Thanks Millie. I'll have a search round for them.

Our last day in Cornwall for a month or so. Brilliant clear blue sky but very cold this morning. Everything packed away and all the cleaning done. Straightforward journey home. Bowls for me tonight and choir for Mrs M and, oh yes, dentist tomorrow morning
for me!
Have a safe journey home. Are you heading back down again for X-Mas this year?

Well that's us back home again after a week away, had planned to be away a bit longer but the weather for the next week doesn't look to be good on either coast in the North. We had an awful night on Friday at Old Hartley, the wind was very strong and the gusts kept rocking the van, we had to get up twice during the night, once to re-secure the bike cover with more bungies and once for the screen cover, the wind was so bad it kept lifting the front and managed to undo the velcro that goes under the mirrors which then flapped and started loosening the velcro on the front
rain was horizontal and heavy. The Heki's were rattling as was the blinds, all in all not a pleasant night, with very little sleep. After watching the weather on Saturday morning we decided not to linger on the East coast and headed over to Carlisle where we had the rest of a good day, Sunday was a bit duller with some rain but at least we were not getting blown all over the place. Today was lovely but the site was closing for the season so we had a lovely drive back home and are now all un packed and tucked up nice and warm. Weather not looking to be great, we have a weather warning for snow and the snow gates are already closed at Glen Shee and the Lecht. Hope all those who are out and about stay safe.Well I did warrn you!!
Sorry to hear that you've decided to cut your trip short because of the weather, but winds are the worse thing for stopping us from sleeping too. We just missed you as we left Englethwaite on Friday. It was quiet the few days we were there, with only about 18 vans maximum on, and 4 of those were on seasonal pitches. I would think that it was busier over the weekend, with people getting away from the fire works. It looks like the ideal spot to stay if one has a dog who's scared of all the bangs. There were none that we heard Halloween night.0 -
Sunny day in East Cumbria, and not as cold as yesterday. Snow still on the high tops of both Crossfell and the Lakes hills. Caught bus from outside of the CL to Trelkeld with the intention of walking the old line to Keswick only to find that it's closed
at the moment, and has been since last December, due to damage to a couple of the bridges following the floods of Dec 5th. Ended up walking the C2C cycle route up to Castlerigg Stone Circle before dropping down to Keswick and back along the line to see the
damage. There was evidence of 3 landslides and many trees stacked up across the river banks. Made us realise just the power of large amounts of water confined to a narrow space.0 -
Well, he's home after his stay in hospital, just got to build up his stamina again before he goes back to his day centre.

We've just been shopping at the town centre Tesco Express. We bought a bottle of red wine for £3.50 to go with tonights beef and vegetables.

I think if we had been end on it might not have been so bad but we were side on with no unit to
the side of us, so took full force of it. Englethwaite was very quiet at the weekend, we saw quite a few fireworks going off in the distance but nothing close to the site. Would have stayed longer but it closed today, thought about going to Coniston or Meathop
fell but the weather wasn't great for there either after today and don't really want to go further South as OH has a few appointments in the diary. Never mind it's not a race there's always another day.0 -
It was a difficult evening at work. Two orders came in after 10 p.m. I managed to do the first order and then another came in at nearly half past ten. I had to refuse it as it would have meant getting back to the site after 11 p.m. and the site barriers lock at 11 p.m. I have always made it clear to the boss that I cannot work after 11 p.m. but he can't seem to accept that.

First frost of the autumn for us in East Norfolk this morning, on the bright side it does mean we have a clear sky at the moment.
Went to Minsmere yesterday, the wind was a cold northerly gusting up to about 50mph, the sea was a tumbling mass of large breakers, white caps and a lot of sea spray.

Very cold and frosty morning, but at least the sun is shining .
Got to finish clearing our spare bedroom today before work, not much left now. Took a load to the charity shop yesterday, they were very pleased to take it.

The other boss rang me this morning to ask what happened last night. After I explained, he said he would have a word with the chief boss and in future ask him not to take over the Worthing work.
He agreed that I should not have to work after 10 p.m.

I'm cooking lunch at the moment. I've just put the frozen fish and chips into the electric oven after pre-heating it for 10 minutes. It will be ready in 30 minutes.

Just warming up again, after feeding the tweets & hanging their new Dome covered feed dish 'cos the other had gone all brittle due to sunshine ( !! ) and split while I was trying to clean it.
Just why is is that the replacements are always one stage larger than the old 'uns ? Do they think the birds are getting hungrier ??
Still its a job done so now to the house-work

After a lovely day yesterday, today is tolally overcast. Rain, possibly even snow expected later.
Cold out, we had to turn some heating back on, first time we have needed heating during the day this winter.
New TV licence arrived in the post today, so that only took 9 days, they had said to allow 4 weeks.
OH is now on the last stage of the first set of curtains for DD, just the hems to stitch this afternoon.
Going to my lathe in the garage soon, will need an extra sweater under my overall, it's cold in there.
