Arrived in Cornwall after a fairly uneventful journey, we are all set up, and the sun is shining , just off to walk the dog and explore the area. Smile

Glad to hear you arrived safely and that the weather is good. Lots of choice as far as dog walking is concerned down that way. Look forward to meeting up later in the week! Happy

Foggy mist finally clearing. Have been busy sorting out our conservatory, overgrown with geraniums, I've chopped them back for the winter...left a few flowers on some, they seem to keep going for ages. The winter wheat is turning green in the field behind
our home and I can actually see the view due to general chopping back outside!

Cider making soon, we are awash with apples.Smile

Malcolm, sorry to sound wise after the event, but if same hospital needed for future work then go by train from Worthing, Gatwick or thereabouts to London Bridge Station. Hosital is next door as it were.

Hope you are all sorted soon, best wishes to you both.

Write your comments here...That might be a good idea for next time as she was told that four more appointments may be necessary. There's a train from Goring by sea station change at Haywards Heath to London Bridge Station £31.70 return if she travels on
her own. I could take her by car to the station and collect her from the station on her return. Journey time one hour 31 mins. Much quicker than by car!

Write your comments here... Malcolm , have you looked into getting a discount rail card . If your wife has to make that journey four times ,you might actually make on the deal ,.

We have spent the morning putting the caravan 'to bed' for the winter.  Water all drained down, brought stuff home that we don't  want to leave in over winter and given it a general clean and tidy. We shall occasionally go over during the winter and put the gas heating on to keep it aired.

Success at last, shower in DD's flat now back in working order.

My next big job will be to fit new mains wired wireless linked smoke and heat alarms in her flat and that belonging to her husband.......newish rules up here on these things in tenanted properties.

OH has all those curtains finished now so we will deliver them to son and D-I-L tomorrow.  When arranging what time to be there there was mention of "could I fit a new handrail on their staircase."  Surprised

Seems they are having a problem getting the joiner to come back and finish the job.  Have said I will take a look at what is involved......it's not just a simple straight rail.

Another decent day in Dumfries, but a good bit cooler this morning. Drove over to Kirkcudbright, wandered round by the quay and through the food festival tents. Then did a 3 ml circular walk round St Mary's Island. After lunch onto Dundrennan Abbey before
returning to town to visit NTS's Broughton House, the former home of one of the Glasgow Boys artist group. Most interesting tour with a very informative volunteer guide.

I apologise for the damp patches on this page, every time I hear about Aberfan I get emotional and will always remember the news reports of the day when it happened. For me that was the most memorable bit of TV reporting ever. With current 50 year anniversary
reports I just can't help it.

No - I was not there or involved.

I agree redface. A very emotional time. I remember it so well. Mr H and I had not long been married. He was away on business and I came home from work to see the news on our very old and very small TV on my own  I just  cried and cried. I couldn't imagine
and still can't imagine how those parents feel.
