TG We had a lot of soul searchingto do when OHs mum got to the stage that it was even though she was in a Warden control flat and had carers 4 times a day ,the time for her to go into a care home , we looked at several before we chose one,,we soon realised
that we should have done it earlier as for the last two years of her life, it took a lot of pressure of the whole family, and she really picked up with the company,0 -
Thanks everyone for your kind words, it wasn't an easy decision 15mths ago to make the move into full time care JV but it was the right one, as you say the pressure on the family (me and big sis) was then quite full on. We are not quite so frazzeled these
days but the feeling of guilt still stays.0 -
TG As was said to us ,in the "old days"when families were bigger and all lived in the locality, it was far easier to spread the "load" ,also life spans have (thank goodness)increased far more which has made the pressure much more,so you must not feel
guilty as you have your own lives to think of now0 -
Dont feel guilty TG. You have done your very best for your Mum. It sounds as though she is in a very caring home and in a safe place.

We decided to have a day out today so had a lovely wander round Easton Walled Garden. The dahlias were wonderful and we had the place more or less to ourselves!

Thanks brue. It was lovely to have a day out after all the worry recently. Your visit to Stourhead inspired me to suggest it to Mr H.

Hope you get everything sorted out TG.
We caught the bus to Keswick today for a change. Pleasant walk by the lake and through Castlehead Woods before wandering through the town. OH ended up with a new Paramo jacket. They give 10% discount to NT members, which we didn't know about until the sales
assistant told us of the offer.0 -
What have we been doing - house-hunting with youngest son, who has split up from his partner, and needs to sell their (beautiful) house. He's looking for something to replace it, but at approximately half as much! Fortunately today we think we've found
it and he's made an offer which was accepted.Watch this space!

Not your fault ValDa! Every 10th post is a blank page, a regular systems error that still appears on this thread. Hope things work out for your son. Last weekend we saw the small house my daughter has just purchased. She's got a couple of weeks before her
rental place ends and OH has to help with moving the piano for her this week, that will be fun!0 -
Blustery, damp, grey day here so Mr H has decided that we need to defrost the freezer, do some sorting out in the garage, clean out the fish tank etc - oh the joys! Best of luck to those who are house hunting, house moving, especially with the piano brue.

We got up late this morning.
After the drive back from Birmingham, we left at 9:00 a.m. and stopped at a services on the M40 for lunch. Only one stop. Then M25 with no traffic hold-ups for a change. So we got back to Worthing by 13:45. We then got the awning up.
We started work at 3 p.m. as arranged with the boss. We tried to get the day off but he wouldn't agree. When we did start, we could see why. It was absolutely manic from start to finish and several problems as well. Absolutely exhausting after the long journey
back from Birmingham. How I long for a peaceful life!0 -
Hope you enjoyed the Show Malcolm. We've just got too much on at present - and all my money was spent at the February Show!!
Today I'm sitting outside the Royal Orthopedic Hospital in BIrving ham waiting for Carol who has gone for her OP appointment.

Write your comments here...Thanks David. Yes, it was very interesting to see all the new models, especially the 8 ft. wide ones which gave you much more feeling of space. The evening entertainment at the campsite marquee was good too!

Started of bright and dry today, men came at just after 9.00am to deliver and erect the new shed 10' x 8' all done in good time, looking good. All the 'stuff' that OH took out of old shed is still on the side decking however, as he came down with 'Man Flu'
overnight. He's is now sat reading todays paper being pampered (not)This afternoon has turned dark and dull and the forecast for the next few days is windy, dull, rainy, guess the 'stuff' will have to stay on the decking then
Can't seem to get any enthusiasm to do anything at the moment but need to get a wriggle on I have orders for handmade Christmas cards and they won't make themselves

Bit if mixed weather. Started out fine although the clouds were a low so drove down to N/T car park at Aira Force and, after walking up one side of the gill continued up to the top of Gowbarrow. It then looked as if the rain was heading our way so returned
the way we climbed up, and sure enough it rained but we were able to get shelter till it stopped. Walked down to the car, in the dry, on the other side of the gill and took a few photos of the waterfalls en route. Rained again just as we were heading back

Went to the GP feeling rubbish after the new blood pressure tablets, needed to get it sorted out before the weekend as we are going down to river breamish for our last outing of the season.
All ok as I was told I could come off the tablets without any side effects!

Travelled home from the CL in Worcestershire today and unpacked the van etc.
No energy for cooking so went to the nearby hostelry and reallly enjoyed the Braised Oxcheek and mash.
Really looking forward to going shopping tomorrow!
Welcome Home, WN!! Did you manage to get to the Show and see anything you fancied? What were your opinion of the CL?

Hi, Nellie.
Did get to the show and it was absolutely rubbish for us people who are looking to stay in the small caravan market. Even the Ariva that we currently have wouldn't have made it onto our wish list as they've taken things like storage cupboards out of the
bathroom. Cost cutting gone too far. If we were serious about buying a new one then we could only really buy 1 van out of the vast number on show, without having to change our car or change of storage area at home etc. Obviously we are in a minority and I
know that but we are being squeezed out and either forced to give in or buy bigger cars which we don't want to do. I know we're all diffeent but when we bought our Coachman Amara 380 (no longer made) about 10 years ago we had a choice of half a dozen vans
to choose from. So the show was a big disappointment and depressing from our point of view. The CL was everything we wanted from a CL and the owner was a lovely lady. I hope as a new venture that they are well supported because they desreve to be. I'll be doing a review in due course.
How's the new car performing? Hope you pushed the dealer for some freebies for the way you were messed around. Still at Penrith?
