Just been in to one of our local primary schools to talk to the children about the church choir, to get some new recruits. We'll see how many return slips we get and how many difficult choices I have to make.... Going into another local school tomorrow.
It's my annual visits!David
Write your comments here...will you then become the Simon cowel of church choirs good luck with that David extremly difficult
not to upset children , in fact how do you tell a child I'm sorry you just can't sing0 -
Our relatives from Canada are still here so we have been busy entertaining them. The family wedding at the weekend was great lovely day and the weather was great too. We are away in the motorhome on Friday cant wait think we deserve a rest after a bisy couple

Arrived home 14.30 on Sunday, easy run north in good weather. Makes a change to get the van on the drive without getting soaked!
Started emptying the van as weather was good, food first, then washing and so on. OH has done 3 loads of washing so far and still several to go, 28 days of clothes does mount up, not sure we have much left to wear till they are all washed!
Monday was sunny, not too bad today either, been out to the bank and post office, and made appointments for next week with dentist and optician, both overdue.
Van needs some work done so I don't think we will be going away again this year. We also have quite a bit to catch up on here, so time to stay home and get on with things.

not to upset children , in fact how do you tell a child I'm sorry you just can't singFortunately, it doesn't usually get to that stage Ruby. Firstly, the ability to sing in very young children usually is not a real issue, especially at this level. Most children can be taught to do it with a reasonable degree of success. Reading is more
of an issue. Secondly, I don't actually reject anyone. It we do get too many children, I have a waiting list - usually on a first come, first served basis - those who get their slips back first are dealt with first. If necessary, I will start a 'training
choir' for the very youngest, but to be honest, it doesn't usually come to that. Once the reallity of the comittment involved dawns on the children and the parents there is a fairly high drop out rate within the first 4 weeks or so. We're not dealing with
huge numbers here - unfortunately!David

Hello nellie, we doing ok. Caught up with jobs at home, including mother's garden
. Just planning a trip to Northwest to visit an elderly uncle who's moved from London to Lytham St Annes (into residential home). So
in a effort to give motorhome a run out we'll stay for at least a week and explore, don't know the area at all, and visit for a couple of days either end of the trip.Hope you're new car arrives very soon and is up to your expectations. I see you mention a Blackpool stay - we are reckoning on calling in there ourselves, dates still very fluid. But I do want to see the lights as neither of us have had the pleasure.
Hi, B2, We're fine and picked up the car today, at last!! Don't know how far from Blackpool you want to be but there's a
good CL at Kirkham, Clifton Bank Farm, H/S, EHU & toilet. Might be a bit far out but would suit you. The lights are different, but not the sort of thing we're interested in. We find that some of those staggering along the prom wilder sights than the lights!!! Did
you say that you wanted to head into the lakes for a few days? Where were you thinking of going? We might be able to point you in the right direction re CLs in you're interested. Hope to do a few miles in the car this week and then head off in the caravan
somewhere after that, but nothing booked as yet.0 -
David our daughter and eldest son joined our church choir when our son couldn't even read properly (he was 5!) So he learnt by rote. He went on to be a member of Peterbirough Cathedral choir, first as a probationer when he was 8 and then in the choir proper from the age of 11 to 14 when his voice broke. He was Head Chorister for his last year. Yes it was a huge commitment for him and us but he loved it and still remembers his time there with great pride as do we. Hope you get plenty of little choristers.

Yep - it's hedge cutting time! got out the secateurs, hand saw, pruning pole and chain saw then got to work. Filled boot of the car and went down tip twice. Tomorrow will make a start on the other half of the garden. The Cold beer went down a treat .

Write your comments here...All our laundry is done in the caravan! We have a twin tub washing machine in the awning. Perhaps something like that might be useful for you, KjellNN, if you are away for long periods of time rather than leaving it to pile up
until you get home. The other option, if you stay on full facility sites, is to use the laundry room provided.0 -
We got up to a lovely sunny morning here in Worthing. There's not a single cloud in the sky as I type this. We've just finished breakfast, a healthier option of cereal, tea and toast with Bertolli and orange spread.

Our short trips are always in spring or autumn, when drying clothes outside is more difficult, so it is much easier just to wait till we get home.
WM is on right now, running on sunshine.

We have another beautiful day here too Malcolm 29c at the moment, think it will be time for a dip in the pool soon, nice breeze today and the clouds of yesterday have gone.
As It was cloudy yesterday we took a drive to the interior of the island, wow! the views are wonderful. For those who have never been to Gran Canaria it is very mountainous, the roads up to the middle and across the island are not for the faint hearted,
only bits of rocks or wood in places as a barrier and in many places nothing at all, very scarey at times. Some of the roads have collapsed edges so its down to single file in places. The views though are fantastic and plenty of places to stop to admire them,
very tiring for the driver though as its very steep and lots of hairpin bends. The island has some good motorways should you not be the adventurous type only
another few days left so trying to fit in a few more things, Mr TG has had an ear problem for about a week but its seems OK now so might be able to get a bit of snorkling in again, its suprising how much there is to see even just off the beach, by the rocks
is better though but not when its rough.0 -

The day seemed to increase in pace the longer it went on.
Had a nice lie in, then went for some fuel, coffee back at van and made lunch and prepared things for tea. Then Mrs WN decided we should drive to Bracieux, about 20 miles away to do a cycle for a couple of hours and check out the possible route north westward
for Thursday which on the way home turned out to be Wednesday,so quick repacking of car after taking awning down and sorting bikes out, cooking tea, having a shower etc etc.Decided on a different route tomorrow as to many big speed bumps in first 30 miles (11). Fingers crossed that new route is better.
The joys of caravanning.
By the sound of it you've been pretty busy. Do you have to forfeit a night's booking by leaving early, or are you just paying by the day? Have a safe trip when you head off.
Write your comments here...Got my days mixed up but still left Tuesday. You only pay when you leave unless it's just the one night. Plus you often don't have to be specific about the length of stay. Different country, different rules.

Left the car by the pitch today after long drive yesterday. Walked into Dinan from La Hallerais in Taden for those that know it. About a half an hour's walk next to the river.Always pleasant, especially in the sunshine.

We have stayed at La Hallerais. Lovely walk into Dinan which is a beautiful old town. Enjoy WN.

here at Concierge Camping, just seeing how the other half 'camps' and its very nice....
however, the reason for this post is to say that we've just cycled to the Witterings (East and West...) as part of a round trip using a cycle route called the Salterns Way.
i knew (from googlemaps) that there was a route to the tip of this little peninsula but didnt realise that it had a formal name.
so, anyone looking to enjoy a wonderfully scenic ride past Chichester Marina and some real chocolate box villages (reminicent of Midsomer.....) then try this out...a really lovely quiet (virtually) traffic free ride.
enjoy.
Write your comments here...We visited the whole of that area plus Bracklesham Bay, Earnley and Itchenor with its harbour, last year. I agree it's a nice area to explore, except we did it by car. We don't have bikes.
I had all of my secondary education in that area and did a lot of cycling there as a teenager.

Yet another fine day, wonder how long it will last? Hopefully next week will be similar as we intend setting off on Monday, all being well.
Spent the morning cleaning the outside of the caravan, and, after putting all the gear we carry into the new car spent a frustrating couple of hours trying to work out how to attached the detachable tow-bar. Suceeded in the end but I'm glad that I'd not
left it until just before heading off with the caravan. Hopefully with practice it will fit easier next time!!0
