We went for a walk along Perranporth beach with our dog fantastic surf nobody was allowed to go swimming as the surf was up to 6ft. Then stopped in The Watering Hole Pub on the beach great day out.

Perranporth beach is great for dogs, isn't it, Brian. In fact that whole stretch of the North Cornish coast has many dog friendly beaches including Porth Joke, Crantock, Holy well and Fistral.

Did you venture up on to Penhale Dunes behind the beach? Mikes and miles of open space for dogs to run around off lead - fabulous! Happy

No we didn't go in the dunes can't walk that far. Off to see the seals near Godrevy apparently there are around 30 there. Great bit of Cornwall.

And while you're there you could pay a visit to the Hell's Mouth cafe just up the road. Small place but very popular and great home made food. Happy

Or of course, in the other direction, you could pop down to the Philps establishment in Hayle!!

Counted the seals Around 70 I counted more in the sea.  in the next couple of weeks there will be over 300 on the beach. Great site but blowing a gale.

Spent a splendiferous day visiting Amboise taking in the Chateau where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years. Excellent place as IBM have replicated many of his drawings/inventions into working models. All shown in a pleasing environment in beautiful gardens.

Doesn't seem fair giving one man so much talent!

Well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. We keep revisiting every 5 years or so and never tire. The sun helpsHappy

totally agree, we went a few years ago, well worth a visit

Have a nice break  David, and good luck to Anna on her university course. I can remember dropping our son off at Loughborough,  4 years ago now, but only seems like yesterday.  Smile

David. ..Hope all goes well for Anna, it sounded awful for travelling yesterday in both directions. OH took over six hours to get to Shropshire, road accidents and roadworks all the way. Very dark and wet here, taking a neighbour to town in a minute, just
looking in, have a good day everyone.

Big family get together today to celebrate Dad's 90th. A trip on the Kennet & Avon canal from Bradford on Avon up to Avoncliffe (and back hopefully!) followed by a meal out at our local village hostelry. A day to look forward to - if we can just get him
    organised!

Then off to fetch the van from storage for a few days away on a nice CL to recover! Wink

Well our week on the narrow boat is over. Mixed feeling of enjoying it or not. Horrible weather here in West Yorkshire last night blowing a gale and rain, however today it is dry with the sky overcast. OH busy helping youngest son with collapsing beds and taking stuff to the skip in prep for their move next week. Was hoping to take a few days off next week on the way home as the weather looks to be quite good, and could really do with a few lazy days, might not be able to do that though as it looks like we are getting a couple of suitcases to take up the road along with a load of others things.

    polish?

Thanks for the good wishes folks.  Last night was rainy but today has been quite a nice day.  We moved Anna in this morning and into the afternoon.  TheN we left her to it - Carol and I went for a lunchtime drink with our sandwiches then we headed back to
the van for an hour.  We then popped down to Philps at Hayle for a pasty for tea followed by a quick visit to Asda at Hayle.  Then a ride down to Marazion to take the dog for a run on the beach.

While we were in Hayle there was some sort of festival going on with a small stage with a folky type of entertainment.

We'll catch up with Anna again tomorrow.

Sign outside the Ayr site saying 'no room', its chocca blocked for the weekend from being less than 50% full during the week.

Took the ferry across to Arran today, full day of sunshine and walked to the standing stones, a waterfall and mooched around Brodick castle before return by ferry and back to Craigie gardens.

Just catching up on here sitting in the sun. , 11th,is our daughters birthday. 10 years since we spent one with her. Yesterday we all went to Rotorua - Agrodome to see sheep shearing lambs etc, eldest granddaughters favourite animal, her awe was wonderful
to see. Picnic lunch then onto gondolas for youngsters to luge down, after coffee and viewing and using the small volvo digger in the sandpit. All controls as in the real ones. Great day out finished with take out Turkish once back home. VERY EXPENSIVE day
of treats, tourist prices and coin operated diggers on top of the steep prices!!! Been over for morning tea with daughter, cold eldest granddaughter developing yesterday full blown, she asked to go to bed .  Back outside our cabin basking in 20c clear blue
    ?.

Our last few days here fly out 0015 Wednesday not sure what we will find when we get home, plenty of gardening I suspect. Please tell me the mention of 30c for next week is real ?.

I know you'll miss your NZ family B2 but you'll probably be glad to see home once more and your family here. Hope the garden isn't too overgrown, it feels like Autumn now and we'll all be covered in leaves soon! I think the forecast is bringing good weather
to some parts so you should be able to enjoy the sunshine this week. Smile

After all the rain yesterday,  it's good to see the sunshine back today Smile have just loaded the washing machine with OH's clothes he wore
yesterday for car repairs,  not sure if all the oil and brake dust will wash out though!  Undecided Sons car all fixed now, after much
swearing and cursing yesterday!  I kept well out of the way. Laughing

Bakers2,  sounds like you had a great day out, you should arrive back to warm sunshine, if the forecast is right.

Going to fetch the caravan later, off to Norfolk for a few days later in the week, if all goes to plan.

We had a flight up to Kirkbride yesterday. Rather murky going over the fells, but lovely when we got up there.

Flew back down over Bassenthwaite, Derwentwater and Windermere in bright sunshine, watching all the people enjoying themselves in boats. The C&CC site at Keswick was very full.

We then headed off over the moors, past the giant 'golf balls' at Menwith Hill, skirting the edge of Leeds/ Bradford zone and back to our airfield.

My mate remarked "Aren't we lucky to be able to do this?" I do believe he was correct.Smile

Sounds great Ian, a real birds eye view. Hope Pauline and Helen enjoys their different breaks away. We're at home for awhile but I hope we can manage another short break fairly soon. I've had a weekend on my own, it's been very quiet at night, just the owls
    for company!
