I think we'll get by, KjellNN because there's only one more night to get through. Tomorrow we'll be back in our caravan! Next time we'll try a proper list. Although we did try this time but still couldn't remember everything that needed to go on it!
The other thing we learnt from this camping trip is to pitch the tent under a tree. It was like a greenhouse inside when the sun was out. The heat was unbearable.
Under a tree we would get more shelter from the elements.from my camping days in the scouts, I seem to remember not to advise that, sounds a good idea, but it never stops raining (after its stopped raining) and there's a risk on lighting? This was many years ago and its probably changed

It can look appealing to pitch in the shade of a tree, but the grass is often poor because it’s protected from the rain, trees can drip sap and birds have a habit of roosting and leaving little presents on your lovely unit beneath. Rain will also drip
from trees long after a storm has passed. It can even be dangerous to pitch under a tree if there’s a thunderstorm.I agree, Corners......we were always told not to pitch a tent under trees.

Sorted out OS maps for next trip, along with the 2 new ones that arrived tis morning. Short shower when we were out for our mid morning walk but cleared up nicely and was quite warm when the sun came out. Just passed a couple of hours weeding and waiting
for the next week to be over so that we can finish off preparation for our next trip. At least there's plenty of footie to watch over the weekend, to while away the time.Write your comments here...Come on, admit it. You're bored aren't you? Of course I am. Been home just over a week, all jobs done, weather forecast's not so good for next week so we'll probably not bother going out for a drive/walk. I've a few trees tha tneed clipping down a bit but the brown bin's full already, so will have
to wait till the collectors have been around before I can fill it up again. Hey ho...there's alway the England/Aussie match to listen to tomorrow morning followed by the European Cup.0 -

Write your comments here...I never thought of all that. Perhaps I better not pitch under the tree here next time then. Maybe, we'll pitch the tent a little away and just put the relaxers under the tree during the day so that we can sit in the shade.

We're now getting ready to pack everything away and get the tent down so that we can get back to our caravan at Northbrook Farm. By 11:30 this morning, we'll have been away for the required 48 hours, so no problem with signing back in for another 21 nights. The warden said that she'll look forward to welcoming us back!
Just two and a half more hours to go and our two night camping expedition will be over!

Yesterday they had a reunion on the camp site, so they set up a marquee in the neighbouring field. There was music and lights when we got back from work last night.
We got some reduced price cold foods from Tesco so that we didn't have to cook. Instead we had prawn cocktail followed by a Mediterranean flat bread chicken salad before going to bed. I don't know what time the music stopped. We were both fast asleep before

Feeling much more upbeat this morning, despite the dreadful mess we all seem to be in.
Maybe my mood is because we're going away tomorrow, or because I had a lovely 7 mile drive to the small local supermarket (Booths), or because of the brilliant weather and brilliant music in the car (sang along loudly), or the bargains I bought ( including my favourite gin - at the moment - Caorunn).
Or maybe because of the sizeable Tax Refund showing our account this morning. God Bless our accountant.

I have been wasting time this morning plus cleaning, washing and talking to neighbours. Having now failed in putting the world to rights I've also missed the washing on the line slot. Big spots of rain around here too B2, will have to dodge the showers now.

Mrs H just got all her interest back for last year after sending in a R40 form and I had a letter from HMRC waiting for me when we got home telling me about a refund for me

Just about to head off to meet a friend for a walk, heavy shower of REALLY COLD rain with HUGE spots. Grabbed in the just dry bedding. Now got to think about walk wear
Well the devil certainly takes care of His own. Picked up friend and headed to local estate as we could walk or just have the tea and cake . Sky cleared and we walked and chatting for two hours ending at the tearooms. Just sat down inside, no outside
tables left, when the thunder rumbled and the heavens opened with the taps full on including hailstones. Waited it out which wasn't much longer than gossiping eating and drinking a pot of tea each. Finished off a circular walk, rather squelchy underfoot
and the dropping trees. Whole walk done it short sleeves three quarters and sandals, rain jacket confined to its bag0 -
Spending the day with the gkids, was fine up to a few minutes ago now its raining
Going out for a meal later on, kids already built the lego we bought them.
Lively discussion this morning with youngest son, opposing views

Been out on the bikes this morning, then went into Stamford this afternoon. Lots of thunder but only a couple of showers. Back at the van now, wine opened and Cadac on the go.

We're back at Northbrook Farm Club site. We got back at about 11:45 this morning, went to reception to sign back in and then got back to our van to proceed unpacking all our stuff from the car. The warden had mown the grass all around whilst we were away. So the pitch was looking very neat and tidy.
It's a lovely evening and when we drove along the coast towards Lancing, the sun was shining and the sky and sea were both bright blue.

Quite a day here!
Mrs Duck, with her 8 babies (now looking quite grown up!) came to see us. I've never seen a family of ducks stick together as closely or for as long as they have. Mrs still wades in when one of her young gets into a scrap with an interloping male...,,,even
though they now give as good as they get.And then our Henry (who was born here 2 years ago) came with her 6 new-born.....one of them is pure black, just like she was as a duckling
.It was a busy time for a while (especially with a few males trying to get a look-in) but all peaceful again now.

Write your comments here...Is there any B&B for £13 a night? I think that might be hard to find, Ian! Wild camping could save us some money, but it might not be allowed in this area.

Another sort of lazy day. Usual dog walk mid morning then we stripped a wall in our hall and repapered it before lunch, as it was getting rather grubby, while listening to the Rugby from Sydney. What a great result!!

Finally making our first trip to a CC site. Have done CLs and private sites but now bound for Broadway in the Cotswolds on Saturday for 15 nights. Got a couple of extra days off work to get the 'van spick and span and fill him up with life's essentials...Very
excited! Never been anywhere on holiday for this long and looking forward to it immensely.three days in Ludlow then another three in Broadway from Monday....then down to Sandy Balls with family and then 'somewhere' in the Forest or down to south coast..

Feeling really tired now. I can't wait to finish work and get back to the caravan. It's been almost non-stop today with the deliveries but only one more hour to go and it's gone quiet, giving me time to catch up with posting on here.

We've just got up to lovely sunny morning here on Northbrook Farm CC site. Nice to be back in the caravan. Our two days away enabled us to defrost the fridge/freezer. We still have the job of putting up the awning.

Half way through the morning now, OH was up for a fishing match at 5.30am. Hope he keeps away from the grass snakes this time. The swelling from the bite he got the other day has only just gone down. I don't expect they liked their habitat being disturbed
with his river bank clearing efforts. He reported back a lot of wildlife activity including several Kingfishers.0
