Not sure I envy your return home - plenty of sorting out to do ?. Just a couple of weeks til we go was hoping we'd be getting drier so garden slows up.

Finally making our first trip to a CC site. Have done CLs and private sites but now bound for Broadway in the Cotswolds on Saturday for 15 nights. Got a couple of extra days off work to get the 'van spick and span and fill him up with life's essentials...Very
excited! Never been anywhere on holiday for this long and looking forward to it immensely.
Good site, with plenty to do in the area.IanH will point you in the rigth direction as he's just been there, I think. Enjoy your stay there.

Glad you enjoyed The day at Crich, when we stayed at the Firs we visited the Denby Factory Shop, saw my mum's denby ware set in the museum!
.Think we will come back to this area to spend more time, there are still lots of things to do. Wouldn't mind living in this area.

Fine warm sunny day,with a gentle breeze, here at home. Didn't bother going to the polls as we cancel eachother out!!
Completed the clearing out of the unwanted stuff from the garage with two trips to the recycling centre. Then finished off by hoovering out the car. All ready for the off and the 2 week wait is going to be hard!!

The oh check up at the eye cancer clinic went well the procedure has started to do what was expected, some stitches are still to dissolve, but so far so good!
Just goes to prove that opticians are not just for goasses! Eye health isimportantly checked by them if she had put off the opticians appointment........
Glad everything seems to be going well. Let's hope that the improvement continues.

Yes, Malvern is one of the trial sites. I reckon about 98% of the hardstandings are occupied, but plenty of empty grass pitches.
I expect it will fill up even more tomorrow, we are here till Sunday.

OH was out last night doing some river bank clearing and thought he'd been bitten by horse flies on his hand. It now looks like a grass snake bite and is swollen. He assures me it wasn't an adder. He was more excited about seeing two Peregrines Falcons working
together!Hope your OH's hand recovers soon. I can totally see why he excited about watching peregrines working together, saw that a few years ago on Durlston cliffs, so had the above and below views, magic, but poor pigeon didn't agree .

Well we have got through our first night in the tent. We had to sign out at reception in Northbrook Farm and will need to sign back in when we get back. The dawn chorus sounded much louder in the tent than in the caravan.
We left at about 11:30 a.m.and arrived at this site 15 minutes later. By 1 p.m. we had the tent fully erected and then started unloading our stuff from the car. We managed all that before it started raining. My first reaction was that I missed the aircon.
It was very hot and humid under the canvass when it rained because of having to close the doors to stay dry inside.By contrast it got cold in the night. However, there's blue sky and sunshine this morning and it's starting to get warmer.

Feeling a more than a bit depressed and anxious this morning. But, cheering myself up with LOUD music and ticking off stuff on the Caravan Holiday Checklist. Off to Scotland on Sunday.
The list covers all eventualities and all weather. I think.

And, if you're in Scotland today, and more particularly near Edinburgh, why not head out to The Royal Highland Show. It's Dairy Day today, and the Dairy Shorthorn judge left here at five this morning. With his smart jacket and hat, he may even outshine

Unusually, we had a fried breakfast this morning using the two burner electric camping hob. We had sausages, bacon, fried tomatoes and fried bread which made a change from our usual cereal in the morning. We forgot to pack the cereal!
The sun is out and it's already very hot in the tent but at least we're getting some breeze. There is quite a bit of cloud gathering which is welcome for cooling down. We're managing to keep the milk and other chilled foods cool in the electric coolbox.
We forgot a few basic things like a comb, so unable to comb hair. We also forgot to bring drinks, so a trip to the local Tesco Express in Findon was necessary yesterday afternoon. We'll remember next time, hopefully.
Apart from us, there is one other tent here on this site. The rest are all caravans.
The site owner was surprised to see us in a tent as he remembered us in the caravan last time we stayed here.

Used to visit the RH show Goldie and even did some cow sitting during the event for a cousins Jersey Cows. They look so dainty but I discovered they are quite heavy when one stood my foot. Keep cheerful all you farmers and good luck at the show.

I think we'll get by, KjellNN because there's only one more night to get through. Tomorrow we'll be back in our caravan! Next time we'll try a proper list. Although we did try this time but still couldn't remember everything that needed to go on it!
The other thing we learnt from this camping trip is to pitch the tent under a tree. It was like a greenhouse inside when the sun was out. The heat was unbearable. Under a tree we would get more shelter from the elements.

So are we (depressed and anxious), if we did not have some very dear friends to visit in Nort Wales, we would be off home tomorrow.
The site here at Malvern is quite busy, but very quiet. Everyone is looking very sombre.

Arrived at Top Lodge this afternoon, lovely warm sunshine while we set up,then showers, which have now cleared. Already seen red Kites over the site. Looking forward to getting out on the bikes.

from my camping days in the scouts, I seem to remember not to advise that, sounds a good idea, but it never stops raining (after its stopped raining) and there's a risk on lighting? This was many years ago and its probably changed

4. Beware of trees
It can look appealing to pitch in the shade of a tree, but the grass is often poor because it’s protected from the rain, trees can drip sap and birds have a habit of roosting and leaving little presents on your lovely unit beneath. Rain will also drip from trees long after a storm has passed. It can even be dangerous to pitch under a tree if there’s a thunderstorm.0 -
Miserable sort of day here after yesterday (sic).
Sorted out OS maps for next trip, along with the 2 new ones that arrived tis morning. Short shower when we were out for our mid morning walk but cleared up nicely and was quite warm when the sun came out. Just passed a couple of hours weeding and waiting
for the next week to be over so that we can finish off preparation for our next trip. At least there's plenty of footie to watch over the weekend, to while away the time.0 -
