Got the morning ferry from Caen, no problems, no migrants, no blockade. Pleasant crossing, now with eldest son and family, had lots of hugs from gkids. Gkids now all tucked up in bed for the night, think we might be in for an early start in the morning

It's a rather grey and wet start to the morning this morning. We've just got up and are having our first cup of tea at the moment.

Car going in tomorrow for the propshaft to be replaced. Hope that will solve the noise problem we have. Time is running short before our holiday. Hope it will be solved in time.
David
Well - car went in for propshaft yesterday. No joy! Still unacceptable noises coming from the car. Next thing: Transfer box. Managed to pick up a new transfer box yesterday for under a grand!!! Expensive, but a bargain! It goes in Friday for it to
be fitted. If this doesn't work, goodness knows what next!! This is getting dangerously near our holiday! At this stage, I'm beginning to wonder if we'll make it....David

Oh dear David, fingers crossed for you all.
Hope TammyG is enjoying being "nearly back home" after all the travels and travails! Seems a long time since you set off from Scotland.
We've had a nice morning down on the coast in Dorset, decided to take a break from gardening and get some sea air. Misty rain came down but we enjoyed a coffee and cake in the Hive Beach Cafe near Burton Bradstock. This is a dog friendly beach cafe and the NT allows dog owners to walk their dogs, on a lead, away from the summer dog ban area and on to the next part of the beach or up on the coastal path. The area is packed with holiday makers in the main holiday but just now it's very pleasant.

Visit over with gkids, as predicted we did have an earlyish start this morning, kids leave for school at 08.00. Only stayed the 1 night as son on a course away from home, although he got home last night, kids at school all day then clubs in the evenings,
Mum works so trying to fit in with everything isn't easy. We are now at The Firs site, from the little I've seen so far it looks very nice. Lots of service pitches and all non awning are on grass. Site looks lovely and well kept.Brue, it does feel a long time since we left home, its 2 weeks since we left Spain, this is our 5th site in that time.
We came through some rotten weather on the way here hope all is well where ever you are, skies are grey here but the sun is trying to come out, the birds sound happy

Five deliveries done so far today and now a gap awaiting next order. So we're sitting in the car opposite Barclays. Another opportunity to catch up with my posting.
All five deliveries were in the evening so we were able to spend the afternoon in the caravan and awning. We've taken the front and sides of the awning down so that it's cooler to sit out.

That is getting serious, David!
Really hope that the transfer box sorts it out. It's awful when something goes wrong just before a holiday......but often means that everything then goes well, after all the stress.
Good luck!

Got up this morning to a dull, overcast and a threat of rain.
Decided that I had to do my annual 'challenge' anyway and got the bike out. Into the village and right towards Snowshill and 2 miles later the climb up to Snowshill......I must say, I was a little puffed out at the top!
Turned left and past the lavender fields (not yet in flower) then left towards Broadway Tower, but bear right and down the hill in the direction of Chipping Campden.
Onto the A44 and left turn for a sprint towards Fish Hill. Then a white knuckle ride down the hill - let it go on there and you have little to no chance of recovering it!
Then another sprint around the village ring road and back to the caravan.
Only an hours ride but boy, do you feel it afterwards!
Quick shower and a clean shirt and took Mrs H out to lunch......after which the sun came out
Nice day.

We've just been to the town centre Tesco where we found some fresh fruit and vegetables at reduced prices. We just had enough time to complete our purchases before the next order came. We have our coolbox electric fridge in the car running off the 12 volt car battery to keep the milk, fruit and vegetables chilled until we get back to our caravan later tonight.
It can work with the engine off as long as the ignition is on. The only worry is that if run in that way for too long, it could flatten the car battery! Perhaps there are experts on here that might know more about that.

We've finished the last delivery which happens to be an area close to the club site. Can't get any reply from the boss about the paperwork. So now the dilemma is whether to go back into town in case there's another order or just go back to the club site. I think if he wanted to do the paperwork, he would have replied by now. No more orders coming through and it's getting late and starting to rain. There's a level 3 storm warning too. Maybe it's time to get back to our caravan and chill out! We're due to finish work in 25 minutes anyway.
If we finish work later than 23:00 the site barriers are locked meaning having to park the car in the reception car park and walk back to the caravan in rain, sleet plus thunder and lightning. The boss knows this and usually says we can go home earlier if it's quiet.

Just back from meeting up with a friend at the gym, hadn't been for a few days so feeling guilty. Will probably feel it in the morning now.
Ian, very impressed with the bike ride, especially coming down fish hill.

Just watched my ex boss, being interviewed on the bbc news, I missed the cameras in town today, mind you I wasn't in the pub!

Warning to all, like me, the wrong side of three score years and ten!
Spent 2 hrs up a ladder yesterday and could hardly walk this morning until the pain killers kicked in. Think I'll have to give it up for good and flog the ladders on Ebay. Still I did enjoy several cups of tea and (unusually for me) watching day time telly.
0 -
Careful Redface !! This day-time telly is quite Dangerous !! If I'm around I'm quite likely to watch Flog it to see what garbage folks buy & then try to sell on. There was a sort of carved wood stick from Tonga on
sale today and the "Expert" said what it was, where it was from & gave a guide price of £800 absolute minimum going to a probable/possible top whack of about £1500 ( I think ). A little bit of saleroom bidding then
a flurry of fone & tinternet cross bidding. Ended up at £5800 !! I think you ought to take up this twig
wittling malarkey yourself then you could pay the workers to go ladder climbing whilst you sit back & supervise (

Thanks Ian, and Brue for the sympathy. We seem to be having one of those times when everything seems against us. Hope things will improve soon.

It looks like you need a new car, David.

It's moving day for us today as our 21 night stay at Northbrook Farm is over. We're hoping it will stay dry enough this morning to get the awning packed away. It rained a lot during the night so it looks rather soggy outside at the moment.
0 -
We're just getting all our camping equipment together to be packed into the car ready for our two nights away camping with our tent. It's trying to remember all the things we'll need as it's so long ago when we last went camping. The campsite we'll be staying on is £13 a night including electric. So the two nights away will cost us £26. The equivalent of one days wages at dinnertogo!
It's going to be fun as we'll be working during our camping stay. So it means coming back to the tent, after work, late at night and cooking our dinner on the camping hob!

Too much information Malcolm...get on with the packing before the thunderstorms soak your wife!
Write your comments here...Sorry, brue, I was just trying to entertain you!

with all this rain we're having i dont know weather to go out or stay in
It's dry here, hope no one has suffered from all the lightening strikes and flash flooding. What contrasts in teh weather at the moment!
Write your comments here...We had plenty of that last night, brue! The heavens really opened up after our last delivery accompanied by thunder and lightning. So the boss let us finish work earlier.
