Since we both retired we find ourselfs going to the smaller stores especially butchers and veg shops we can buy as little as we need there and of course we have more time

That's like us Ruby, it's nice not to have to do "big shopping" anymore except when family or visitors appear on the horizon.Smile

I don't hate them, just don't love them. I am a bit of a Tesco Clubcard tart so that's where I tend to shop (yes yes I know I could get cheaper elsewhere). I do, on occasions go to Aldi but really that is just to get the good quality steaks they do there.
In all, I tend to do a mahoosive shop on line at the beginning of the month and get it all delivered from Tesco. I then top up with fresh stuff from a variety of places which are convenient. The bit I really hate is putting it all away..   Absolutely HATE
Morrisons; all my nightmares at once. BTW, we always stock up on wine in Lidl when we visit France; best prices we have seen.

Write your comments here... HD, check out Tesco. Clubcard points can be used on the Eurotunnel, we saved a fortune last year using our points I am guessing that you use the big old Sainsbugs off the motorway there. what about the Tesco next Junction up/down?

Yes , Tesco off junction 10 ,but that junction and roundabout is a big no no , unless you have all day to get round it ......

Write your comments here...have to admit, it is NOT a pleasant route; we used to store our Caravan down a bit from there, right turn past the garden centre. One day an old boy hit us head on on his vintage motorcycle. I still shudder; it even made the Nick
Knowles TV series as a 'life or death' thing. Thankfully we no longer have to use it. On the positive side £145 already saved on our Clubcard (with boost) for August

I just open a couple of spreadsheets, then OH thinks I'm too busy to accompany her forays down the aisles.

We no longer have a wet fish shop in townFrown we do have a van that comes round the village but I always forget when its coming. Its one of
the things I love about going to France and Spain, the great choice of lovely fresh wet fish almost everywhere. I also find the meat has much more flavour, especially the pork chops.  I don't mind supermarkets but since we retired OH comes with me and it takes
me forever to find himLaughing I've usually finished and packed before he wonders along saying "Oh you've finished"

What I dislike about Sainsbury's is their insinuation that I sm some sort of thief.  At the self checkout the machine always asks "have you swiped your Nectar card"?  I mean, Really!  I applied for it in the normal way and certainly didn't "swipe" it.

One nice thing about being retired is we can shop where we want, when we want. Local veg and meat, fish man visits once a week. Supermarkets according to what they're offering product/voucher wise.

oh, and time to do it on quieter days, without rushing

When we first retired, we went down to one car, so OH had me drive her to the shops and help decide what to buy.

I think the novelty has worn off now though, and since we got the Smart a couple of years back she has taken to going out shopping alone!

Chance would be a fine thing Wink although I did manage Asda today on my own, as OH was playing with his scooterLaughing didn't
take me long or cost anywhere near as much.

Yes, she reckons she gets round the shop faster on her own, and sticks beter to her list.

Apparently I am more of an "impulse shopper" !!
