Been on the summit plateau of the Ben many times.  A meter or so higher won't spoil the views.

What's more amazing was how accurate the earlier surveys were, as the difference is actually only a few cms. It's just that those cms put the figure the other side of .5 so the height is rounded up rather than down.

So a volcano is unlikely to erupt any minute now, then?

Thanks Steve, I will carry on regardless and drive/tug north of Watford.  What a relief!

It is a scientific fact that the very north of Britain is rising and the very south is sinking. It's to do with continental drift

It will take thousands of years but London will end up being under water.

Some cynic might say something rude about that -- but I will stay silent !!!!Innocent

Hi Kennine, if it wasn't for the Barrier last month, London or part of it, would have been flooded.  The Thames overflowed at Greenwich and was lapping against the wall at Charing Cross pier and was certainly soggy along the Thames path where it is tidal
up to Teddington as my daughter and her OH discovered when they went for a walk and the tide came up.  Ruined her new boots, lol.

Not quite correct K, it's due to Continental Rebound :

Post-glacial rebound (sometimes called continental rebound) is the rise of land masses that were depressed by the huge weight of ice
    sheets
during the last glacial period, through a process known as isostatic
    depression
. Post-glacial rebound and isostatic depression are different parts of a process known as either glacial isostasyglacial isostatic adjustment, or glacioisostasy.
