Dog dies after being deliberately run over by
Police in Conway
Why can’t owner keep their pets under control. This incident could have caused a serious accident. I feel sorry for the policemen who had to run the dog down. It must have been a difficult decision, but in my opinion the right one.

I am a dog enthusiast and I have no hesitation in saying :-
The forces of law and order took the correct decision -- The dog had already bitten a police officer who had tried to catch the out of control dog. There was a great danger that the loose dog would cause a pile up on the road. The dog could not be put down any other way, using a firearm would have been too dangerous to the general public. It must have been a difficult decision for the officers concerned, but definitely the correct one.

Having narrowly missed one running about on the A1 many years ago, cars were swerving and there could easily have been a serious accident. I think in the circumstances and having tried other methods, the police in this case made the right call.

Just glad that i wasn't there to see it, or to have to clean up the remains afterwards. Feel sorry for all concerned, both the police and other car drivers.

if you have ever hit a dog which i did some years ago at 40mph and seen the damage it did to my Astra Est it ripped the front bumper off head lights smash what a mess so on a fast road like A55 at say 70 mph it would be a right mess. ps the dog made a ful
recovery. malc0 -
I spent several years working on the motorway network, which in effect the A55 is, and it is difficult to image how dangerous these roads are. Natural instinct for any driver would be to try and swerve to avoid a loose dog, and the consequences could be
horrendous. Sadly it was probably the right decision to end the dogs life to protect human life.0 -
The police can shut motorways and a roads when there is an accident, why didn't they put a couple of police cars on this road and closed it. They do it for traffic accidents. The police officer who ran over this dog should be put up in court for animal cruelty.
I am an amimal lover and this should not have been allowed to happen.0 -
We now see there is to be an enquiry- Anmal Health, RSPCA et al. The dog will still be dead.
correct. And who pays for all this

Looks like a bigger enquiry than if it had been allowed to continue its ways and cause a fatal accident.

Write your comments here... Waste of money and people's time. !! Our police officers did the right thing under the circumstances. No other viable option

Write your comments here...Well theyve just spent 14 million on the Saville enquiry etc and he's dead as well so no prosecution there.
