I remember when Bosch had a similar problem but not with tumble dryers and their local engineers could not cope with the volume of work in the short term. They got a lot of their German engineers across from Germany to help out. Lead to some quite interesting
house calls!!!David

I was shocked to see the complete devastation brought on a family when one of those driers caught fire and burned the house down. Every day we are hearing about others of those makes causing overheating problems.
That there is a recall on the serial numbers affected is laudable but what is unacceptable is the length of time an alleged dangerous machine takes to be made safe.
One of my daughters reported that her drier was one with the affected serial numbers and was told an engineer would be there in nine to ten weeks but just to use the drier during that time. No way !!.
Shocking response from Hotpoint

That's what we were told originally, but have now been offered a replacement instead. I'm a happy customer, but then our tumble dryer was outside in a detached garage, and always 'de-fluffed' so I didn't really have any worries.
Just make sure your daughter follows the instructions on the Hotpoint website about removing fluff regularly - and doesn't use the dryer whilst in bed, or out of the house!

Our dryer was delivered this morning at about 8.30 and the driver said that he had already dropped off ten dryers before ours. He says his depot are replacing 80 per day, and there are 12 similar depots in the UK replacing similar numbers!
The dryer is now installed, and we had a little cash boost because when we took the dryer out, and really poked about where the fluff filter is we collected £1.41 in coins!
