At this time of year the number of parcels and packages being ordered and more importantly delivered must be astronomical yet i ordered an item from a company in Coventry yesterday and it was deliverd to me by royal mail less than 20 hours later which i
think is dam good Happy

What say you

peter.

I often think the Royal Mail is unfairly abused. On the whole their service is excellent. Of course if it was posted first class, then your parcel did no more than it was supposed to do. But I do think it is worth praising consistently good service.

We consistently get small parcels the following day by Royal Mail and the postie will even return on their way back to depot if for some reason they couldn't leave it first time. We've had about 5 different post people in the last 10 years and every one
of them has been great. So no complaints from me.

I've noticed lots of our recent post has been 2nd class and arrived the next day to the postmark, very pleasing.  I ordered flying flowers, delivered by post, was notified of their despatch yesterday and had a text from the recipent today.  I call that brilliant
    service.

We don't seem to have a regular postie these days, but often see familar faces.  I'd like to say a BIG thank you to the boys and girls who deliver our post every day, regardless of the weather or time of day, because for the price of a first or second class
stamp we get a very reliable service ANYWHERE in the UK. Laughing

We have a regular postman - a walking one, and a different 'delivering' one at this time of year.  Both are really nice guys and always smiling whatever the weather.

I ordered a parcel late one evening, and it was delivered by mid-afternoon the following day - and I didn't have to pay extra for special delivery!

Some delivery companies use the GPO as a delivery service for the 'Last Mile', So it may be a the delivery service, as a whole, rather than the last bit that has done well!

Or, conversely, The Post Office being last in the line did poorly if it was later than expected.

Good too hear so many good reviews of our postal service which must be under extreme pressure at this time of year.I think that betwen the GPO and the various couries services its made online shopping a good way too go.

We even had the opportunity to collect some of our parcels from Amazon at our local post office which is a 10 minute walk away.  Saved us having to drive 5 miles to the parcels depot if we were out when they tried to deliver.  I was most impressed.  Hopefully
it will also benefit our local PO.

Write your comments here...One great advantage is that I've managed to avoid hearing Slade or Wizard this year.

Read in the news today, that somebody received a letter from Germany.  It was posted (apparently) on the Friday(?) and delivered on the Wednesday(?).  The address?

    "England"

Apparently, it was delivered to the correct person in this country.  They think there was a label, but which had come off

My Postie is unfailingly cheerful and helpful too. He never bats an eyelid when I am off again and he leaves my post next door.  Of course that is one less hop out of his car but he is still great!  I also like DPD as a courier used by some places I shop
on line.  Being informed of the delivery time is great although a slightly daft rule that they can't deliver 5 mins early even if I am home!

Most stuff we have ordered has arrived promptly, sometimes earlier than expected.

I just hope all the cards we sent arrived before Christmas........they were posted on the 17th and we heard that one sent to Yeovil only arrived on the 24th!

The biggest surprise I had was a couple of months back.  I ordered some music copies from the USA on Fiday and they arrived on my doorstep  before 10am the following Monday morning.  That seemed incredible to me!

I spent 20 years with Royal Mail and loved every minute of it.I still think they do a great job and just wish some people would stop complianing about them as it's not usualy their fault when something is late. It's always a good excuse but often they posted
    later than they said.

I quite agree MJ i,ve noticed these days that some items on ebay are marked as despatched as soon as you pay for them when this is probably not true but it looks good but fortunately ther are many sellers who do get the goods in the post on the same day
and the GPO and the couriers do the rest.Happy

Found Royal Mail better than couriers. At least they don't do, as one courier did last year, and leave a parcel in my recycling bin because I was out when they tried to deliver and they didn't want to come back. (the parcel went when the bin was emptied,
the note left saying it was there was stuck in the letterbox flap so I didn't find it straight away)
