Winter solstice

I miss sitting out in the sunshine and seeing daylight. But these dark winter days have given us the opportunity to take nephew and niece munchkins outside to see the space station pass overhead at a reasonable hour (on the one clear evening we have had
recently) and this seems to have sparked a real space interest.0 -
Today it's lovely and sunny here and quite cold so that glimpse of the sun makes this time of the year a whole lot better. I read that the Northern lights were visble over Norfolk last weekend, that's what I'd really like to see in Winter.

Well it's only 15:15 and it seems like the sun's setting already!

We might not be able to notice much difference but the birds in my garden certainly can. They have started singing at dusk again which is a sure sign that spring is on the way.

Agreed, turned the corner on my walk to work and was 'assaulted' by something that shone in my eyes
We had a chilly wind today, lovely atmosphere in town this afternoon. Yes the northern lights have been visible again, didn't
see them last weekend but have seen them a couple of times in the last year from Essex, thanks to the street lamps having been turned off overnight
I'd love to go the the artic circle to see them but OH unable to go in the cold, hoping for an extended trip to Scotland during
the winter to view them.0 -
I loved Francise's description on page 1. I am in a deep black hole at the moment, & what keeps me going is the thought that I might be able to do that in the spring!
You don't know how precious those moments are until they are threatened. Nil Desperandum!

I can see our caravan in the back garden, but have been unable to use it for the longest spell ever, which is over four months, due to a spell in hospital, but we are booked in at Moreton-in-marsh at the begining of March.

Our M/H is sat outside the house since our return from France/Spain at the end of november. Due to the appalling bad weather and a number of jobs needed doing around the house we've not been away in December and won't be away in January either as the van has to go to the dealers for a bit of warrently work. If all goes well and the van is back at the end of January and the weather is nice and dry, jobs all done we might go away for a few days here and there, I miss sitting in the van and watching the sunset, even in winter. I miss the buzz of a campsite, maybe that is a little sad.

Write your comments here...My sentiments precisely, Tammygirl. I would miss the caravan and the buzz of a campsite too if I had to stay in a house. That is why I stay in the caravan all the year round regardless of the weather. I just visit the house to collect my mail. My cousin occupies and looks after the house so that we can enjoy being away!
The winter solstice is over, the days are gradually getting longer so this is surely the time to be celebrating the great outdoors!
