One of the downsides of living in the North. Can't take up such opportunities
Agree Tracey, it's alright for some. Typical, really, all the advantages go to Southerners!!

You could always come down and stay near to the Tunnel either by campsite or hotel to enjoy a little bit of France.

Any money saved by going over for a day and doing a bit of shopping over there would be totally taken up and more with the cost of travelling all the way from home and a couple of night's stay.

For us it would be the same, living up north, but if we were anywhere around that area anyway on our travels, then we'd certainly consider it. Or it could even be an "excuse" to visit that part of the UK and do it. Sounds a good deal and a good day out.

Now I knows I'm Demshire so not the sharpest knife in the block but I followed the link that David gave and the site gave me a price of £60 for a return. i.e. thirty squids each way.
I played around some more with inhospitable times but the best I could do was £46, so how do we get a headline of £23 return please?

As I mentioned in my original post the offer was only available at that price for a few days. I assume once they had sold out they reverted to normal fares.

A naughty thought I know, but, has anyone used such an offer as a cheap crossing, and simply not returned until a later date, say, three months later?

A friend of mine did this somw years ago on a trip to Jersey where he'd only be driving one way and flying the other way. I think that he bought a 2 day ticket or whatever was the cheapest as a day return wasn't available on a Jersey crossing.
A few weeks later he got a bill from the ferry company - it was the difference between the initial cost (one way) and the full price ticket.
He put off paying, but was then threatened by the usual debt collectors letter.
So he paid the bill, as he agreed that he had broken the terms of the contract and he reckoned that he wouldn't win if it ended up in court.
It had cost him more to do this rather than buy the correct ticket in the first place. The extra cost was the half of the initial ticket that he never used.0 -
, Only slight delays today on Eurotunnel due to sheer volume of daytrippers .NO imigrant problems seen .Terrific value for money at £ 23.00
return. Some special offer restaurants were turning people away due to overbooking by Eurotunnel .Only those who had a prior booking managed to get in !!0 -
We took advantage of this offer after receiving an email from eurotunnel. I have used these discounted day trips before. They often coincide with school half terms. I booked four days before and to my surprise, I was able to secure convenient crossing times.
However I found you could only book by telephone ( those dreaded 0844 numbers !! ) . Stayed locally to Folkstone and had a great day out..0
