Although RP will repatriate pets in the event of a breakdown, it is a pity that they do not offer pet insurance for an overseas holiday.

Unfortunately on our first visit to France, we were on a site with our dogs on leads walking back to the caravan when a dog from a m/h which was not on a lead attached how male dog.  This dog was a cross German Shepherd/Collie and our dog was a Yorkshire
Terrier so stood no chance.

The vet bill for our dog was just over €230 and his eyesight was saved.  The owners of the other sog gave us €200 towards the vet bill otherwise we woudl have been out of pocket.

It would be nice if Red Pennant offered short term pet insurance to cover accidental events such as these, but obviously exclude long term illnesses etc.

It would simplify things a little and I'm glad your dog has/is recovered, it also made me look at my 'PetPlan' insurance policy and am glad to say it covers our dog in case of something like that happening.

Although that wording may have to be changed in future Frown

Fortunately we are coversed for £2500 while abroad, but we still have a fairly heavy excess.

Is that for a short term policy or annual?  If short term with whom if you do nto mind me asking?   I would rather pay an excess of £100 than the full whack.
