An official Caravan Club Facebook page
***I tried to post this about 5 hours ago, thankfully I saved it before hitting post! I know it seems silly to ask something like this when the CC can barely manage a website, never mind anything else, but it's something I've wondered about for ages.***
OK, can I start by saying that I realise that not everybody has or wants Facebook and it's not the centre of the Earth but...
Is there a reason why the Caravan Club doesn't have an official Facebook page? I'm aware of an unofficial one, which has nearly 15,000 people who like it. That's nearly 15,000 people who want to be connected to the club via FB, that the club is somehow happy to ignore. I'm a bit confused by this - why would you pass up such free advertising? An official page would surely grow massively and is an easy way to stay in contact with members.
FB can be a great way for a company to interact with the public. I can't help but think that it seems a bit old fashioned to be steadfastly refusing to join the modern world, which really doesn't help with the image of the CC at all. I can understand concerns regarding moderation of comments, but it is possible to turn these functions off.
The CC could use FB to promote their own sites and CLs - just like the CCC does on theirs. Member offers and promotions, like kids stay for 1p, could also feature and show members and non-members alike what fantastic value a CC membership can be.
So is there an official line on why there is no Facebook (or Twitter or even Instagram) presence? I refuse to believe that no one has ever mentioned it before, so someone somewhere has made the decision that it's not happening. I’m really interested in the answer.
PS If you need someone to do it, I'll send you my details. I'm serious!

FB would have been an excellent way to keep in contact with members when the website went down.

Great post WH. I'm guessing that CC Ltd wouldn't want to see critism about the company service on something as open as Facebook.
I've learned that if I have a problem with a company I go on their Facebook page and put a less than complimentary post on and that usually does the trick.

Having a Facebook page, particularly if open to anyone can become something of a double edged sword, ask the C&CC or even John Lewis or Marks and Spencer. It can generate more negative publicity than positive. I would be interested to know how members would
benefit when virtually all the information they might need is available on this website? Having said all that it would be interesting to know why we don't embrace Facebook.David

That's a large part of the problem, David, it being on this website which tends to be here today and gone tomorrow.
I'm not a fan of FB, though, and wouldn't use it.

For those who do use Facebook simply put 'The Caravan Club' in the search box and you will find loads of pages, most Centres and Regions now have their own, some open some closed to members only and there was until fairly recently an official Club page too
just as there is for the C&CC, sadly it was little used though so often remarked upon as bland and not worth the bother.Alison

You would think that the CC being considered as a rather superior organisation would have stayed clear of Facebook and used Twitter.
The "Just shampooed the Hamster" type of communication is perhaps not what some CC members would consider appropriate.
However everybody to their own so I'm quite laid back about F/B -- If the CC decides to go down that route I could easily set up an F/B login to see the latest news.
Reading the Latest mag yesterday it would seem that the days could be numbered for this forum as it is anyway.

We may well consider ourselves 'superior' but that doesn't mean we have to be snobs too !!! and I have never seen a post on facebook about shampooing a hamster - did I miss it? surprising, something like that would surely do the rounds for years, must be all the current affairs discussions displacing it at the moment I suppose.
