Why are there scams all over the Club Classified?

We are now looking to 'upgrade' from a caravan to a Motorhome Laughing

We are obviously looking at 'online' adverts.

One such search we are doing is via the link to Carvan Club Classified. This in turn links to www.carvansforsale.co.uk

From browsing this site it is obvious that the scammers are all over this like a rash! Sad

Often at prices 'too good too be true' can be seen. With statements like send me your email address and/or mobile phone number for a quick reply....

How on earth do they expect to get away with it?

Hopefully members are not taken it by parting with their hard earned cash Surprised

Scammers are common on all motorhome selling sites. Presumably the same applies to caravan selling sites. The good thing is that the vast majority are so obvious that they are unlikely to succeed if buyers have done some basic research beforehand.  It is
irritating though. I expect t would cost too much to sift out individual advert because to spot a scam, you have to understand the likely value of the item and then engage in an exchange with the seller to ascertain whether it was a scam or not.

Yes it's very much buyer beware...

...suffice to say that we were very disappointed to find that our Club allows such people access.

I think one of the main problems seems to be the association with www.caravansforsale.co.uk

Very easy to sign up and start selling yer stuff Surprised

The good news is that today we purchased a very nice used Motorhome from an NCC Approved Dealer.

Not as nice as our Coachman Laser 650/4 sold last Sunday Don't cry

Still the main thing is that SWMBO gets to share the driving Smile

There are bargains to be had on these sites BUT you do have to careful.

I knew a couple of sales "That were too good to be true" because the caravan / motor home were difficult to sell as the prices were seen to be to low.  The sellers thought that by foregoing having to not having to pay for insurance  /storage could offer
a lower price and a saving to the new buyer. In the end they were sold to the trade at an real knock down price.

Look at the foot of any page on the website, the bottom link under "Advice and Training" takes you there.  Not sure why they put it there though, since the classifieds provide neither advice nor training...

Though on second thoughts, perhaps they do provide a learning experience...
