Tried to used this facility to see if a Mitsubishi DX4 was a match for my caravan, but it only came up with the electric engine model. Not much use when I was looking for the diesel version. Has anyone else found out a similar problem?

I had same problem, just got a new BMW 5 series touring 520D

No touring estates listed only saloons which was strange as estates are quite common. I ended up using the tow car website and it's all a great match.

Similar problem here. My car on the CC comparison was showing a kerbside weight as over 100kg lighter than in the vehicle handbooks. I used Towsure and found their data more reliable. I contacted the CC and was told as an external supplier runs their comparison
the CC could do nothing. Could I suggest you contact the CC as if enough of us highlight the issues perhaps they can do something.

I find the CC matching site has plenty of gaps with various car models I have wanted to know about.  I found a site called towcarinfo which is much better.

    Same site as 'Towsure' uses.

Write your comments here...Just checked again and you are right, the years section miss out 2015, 2014 models show diesel and electric how strange. Would the year 2014 give you a idea if your caravan was a suitable match

If you know your cars kerb weight and its towing limit there should be no problem calculating if a caravan is a suitable match. Possibly useful for beginners but after that we can work it out for ourselves.

If you look at the match "app" it shows 4 different aspects that they consider to ensure that the match between car and caravan is suitable, not just the Kerbweights.

I worked and there is a good match. Just noticed that the manual version is just 10kg less than the automatic so the matches still are good.

I di cover the cars kerb weight and towing capacity. There are three other factors on the site, gross train weight which unless you have a french car should be in order ( I know there can ba a problem there with certtin ones), nose weight ratio which gives
advice but where they get the nose weight from I do not know and BHP per ton. The last one might tell you your car will not be a ball of fire, but if it is within the towing capacity should ensure it can do the job.

Thanks, Wildwood. The nose weight ratio had me scratching my head.
