2017 site closures
There seems to be an awful lot of sites closed for refurbishment next year particularly in the north. its good if sites are being "improved" but surely the closures next year are leaving the north short of sites. I realise there are alternative clubs and
cl's and private site BUT that doesn't excuse poor shutdown planning.

I was thinking the same..........perhaps "Northern" members of the club will get a rebate on our membership fee.....

We thought that Knaresborough was closed from January for most of 2017 for major redevelopment but I noticed this morning that some of the pitches are available to book. We were there a few weeks ago and we were told that Chris from the bistro had been
made redundant and the bistro would be closing. Very sad.0 -
Well if Knareborough is not closed then the CC has been incompetent as it says on their site that it will be. We would originally have gone to Wharfdale in April but as it is closed then we thought of Knaresborough. As the CC said tha twas closed we booked a commercial site between Knaresborough and Harrogate

You would think that an rganisation like CC woul sort out planning contracts etc before announcing closures but then they are busy drinking tea at the overstaffed HO> Incompetence it would be called in any other organisation.
In some industries it would be called BAU (business as usual) hence the over runs in both time and cost

In my experience giant companies make even worse mistakes. In ours we were in three offices accross the city and therefore found one large one to house everybody. Those checking the office to be moved in measured the floorspace and forgot to deduct the central
lightwell. The result not everyone fitted in leaving one department occupying an otherwise empty four storey building until additional accomodation could be found. The cost was never revealed but it was substantial.0 -
Looking at recent planning applications to Harrogate Council it would appear that planning permission was granted in august for construction of 19 new hard standings including 12 serviced pitches and demolition of the office and bistro and reconstruction
of a new block at Knaresborough CCS. Change to the access is also included.A later application for all year use was refused.
A third application to comply with some of the conditions of the first regarding materials etc. was submitted on 1st December.
Since the site is now not showing any availability till 25 August I would assume that the work is going ahead.
