Pembrey Country Park

Has anyone stayed on both the Pembrey Country Park CC site and the Pembrey Park Camping Site run by the local authority?

We're going to an event over Easter (Canix Fur Nations Laughing ) and it's being held at the park. I, therefore, have the option of booking
either caravan park. The local authority one is cheaper but it's only a 10amp ehu. The CC site is just next door but would I then have to pay to enter the park daily on foot?

What are the facilities like on the LA site i.e. toilet block, showers etc.? There's not an awful lot of info on their web site.

So interested to hear if anyone has stayed at either site and what they thought of the facilities.

Thanks.

Its a lovely site, went last year and just booked again for late may bank hol. Site is spotless and has very generous pitchers. It is only just outside the park, nice 10 mins walk to the beach which has lifeguards and is very clean.

Did you have to pay to enter the park to go to the beach? Or is it only cars that have to pay?

Don't want to end up paying to get to an event when I could have avoided it by camping in the LA site.

    Thanks

When we were there, about 4 years ago, it was free for pedestrians and cyclists

You only pay for cars. The site entrance is only a couple of hundred years from park entrance. It nice and flat so a nice gentle walk to beach. The dog beach is seperate and that is a bit of a hike as you have to go over some dunes.

Only cars had to pay - but if its an event I would book the CC club quickly if you want it.  The other site didn't look "as posh"

Thanks for the replies. I've already booked the CC site this morning but I was just interested in what the LA site was like.

The event I'm going to is an athletic event (Canicross - running with dogs) so I assume the shower block might take a hammering.

The event organisers offer no ehu camping at £17 a night which is a fair bit cheaper than the CC. But I could also wait until the new year and book the LA site, with ehu, for about £21 pn (2017 prices not yet announced).

However, I might just stick to the CC site as it might be slightly easier to get a shower and it'll only be a couple of hunderd yards to walk to be with some of our friends who have opted for the no hook up option.

There is a back gate from the CC site directly into the park for pedestrian use.

Have stayed on the CC site and love it, have seen the Park site and it is improving but not thinking much about the showers/toilet block allthough I haven't used them. There is a gate from the site to the park which is free or you can walk through the main
gate free. I think theres a story in the story section by Scarletfan who has stayed there, but think it was before electricity was installed.

Seen a story here somewhere about the rowdy behaviour experienced by members, Not sure where but it was some months ago.

We have stayed on Pembrey Country Park CC site many times and have never experienced rowdy behaviour on this site. However we have been troubled by noise, loud music, dogs etc coming from the LA site within the park or from rallies held in several different
areas of the park. The facilities blocks on the LA site are far below CC standards being portacabin type buildings. There is no charge for pedestrian or cycle entrance to the park, direct access from CC site.
