Anybody managed to book a site yet?

I am getting increasingly disappointed at certain members total lack of empathy for fellow members frustration at the clearly unfair booking system.
The positive comments no doubt come from those who were successful in their bookings and have no compassion for those left disappointed by the system? Or by those who are or have been employees?
And to the members who say there is no abuse of this system - you have obviously never checked for spaces in the couple of weeks before the date required and after a reminder has been sent out? Or for that matter been on a site which though 'full' has a
number of spaces? The facts speak for themselves. The only ones that I have any 'compassion' for are the ones who are in work and unable to take part. All those that whinge about what they could not get I expect had the similar opportunity to those that did get. Simply the luck of the draw. I fail to see
that it is unfair to those that were able to attempt to book. I personally was never going to be dissapointed I admit as there are no sites that I want that were likely to be a problem. For those able to take part in grabbing a finite resource the system was
even handed. As for block booking many weekends at a honeypot site how the hell could any manage that?
As for people cancelling before before they are due to go does anybody seriously expect that a member wishing to go to a honeypot site at a weekend would cancel without a good reason and reluctantly knowing that they might not be
able to get the same fortune next year? The limit is 21 consecutive nights stay, so the first booking you make is for 21 nights on frenzy day you bokk 21 nights that incorporates bank holiday weekends, school holidays that are first on your list. Then try again ad infinitum spread across a different
time of the year. After the frenzy has died down and you have confirmed bookings, you amend them to release the midweek days you don't want to. If done outwith the 72 hours no one will be any the wiserHaving seen the frenzy on a country house CC site with members racing past the queue to the entrance before the 12:00 access time, running into the site reception then almost dragging the passenger along with the car door open to reach a particular pitch,
nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to peoples behaviour in this day and age. I was gobsmacked watching that unfold before my eyes.A system that encourages such behaviours is far from fair

I agree that a fairer time could be used,I was fortunate to be able to create time in my working day but others are not so fortunate. Maybe a system allowing only one booking at a so called honeypot site on opening day would be fairer or at least seem fairer.
It would suit me as they are not sites that I want.

We have tried every year for the past 8 years to book a certain site at a certain weekend ! and have failed every year.Following the Club's guidelines, we cannot get through at 8am and the website freezes. When we do eventually get though, of course the
dates are fully booked. I do not understand why we are so unlucky every time and am loosing interest in booking anything with the Caravan Club. It is just too frustrating and quite frankly, upsetting.0 -
well if this thread provesone thing it is that a lot of peope want to go to club sites. Why is that?
I think the system is pretty fair by the way

you only have to read this thread to see where people tell us they have block booked.
And you believed them?? Never heard of a wind up?
So, you were winding us up?
Read my post carefully
No wind up here. I booked 18 sites. Only one particularly popular and not for my dates

Baltic Wharf? Rowntree Park?
BUT, a good idea.

With 300,000 plus members & limited weekend pitch availability , not to say Easter holidays , whit holidays & Summer school main holidays , even the most senior CC members have no advantage over every other member.
It's first come , first served , it's my first year of retirement this year , certainly for the time when I was working I had booking I couldn't get site/ dates , you just look for an alternative venue or date .
My advice is look later in the year , people do cancel , you may get lucky

Nice try. However when you edit your three week booking you only come away with one weekend. If you do edit it It is likely that the remaining weekends will be taken up as for some reason the site is popular
With respect, the point answered was how can a member block book weekends, my rsponse was 1 way to do it. Wether anyone would or has done it is open for debate.
I'll let you know how many of three weekends in the 21 days I got booked at a honeypot site this morning I actually use, but I want a full week too, so it might prove awkward!!
Only kidding on the last para, just in case on this frenzy day people aren't thinking straight

next year?I was at Rowntree Park this year - having booked late when vacancies came up and there were at least five empty pitches despite a full sign!!
...The Full sign is there to abvise "some" to not try,and was it there all the time you were there?

Must admit it seems to me to be slightly degrading giving notice for a Black Wednesday event, with many many members told to hover over a little red button and continuously click it, in the hope it will allow you to enter the realms of glory where you can book your preferred site.
Not for me and not a reasonable way to expect members to have to jump through that hoop.
I don't use it but it wants a radical overhaul.

All booked, no problem...

Of course you could wait a couple of months edit your booking to one weekend and get back in quick and rebook the two that you free'ed up

Don't want to visit York for a while, if I did I would prefer the site just outside. As for Baltic Wharf we are not particularly fond of Bristol. Dislike the Chatsworth site. Any others?
Write your comments here...I also dislike chatsworth, coniston, and borrowdale, dark and dingy two many trees

Write your comments here... Chatsworth , the CC answer to Formula 1 racing , it's one of our local sites but it's becoming increasingly less favourable because of the access situation come 1 o'clock.

Sorry EasyT, I was confusing you with MichaelT who had boasted of booking "3 weekends at Baltic Wharf, 2 at York Rowntree, 3 at Chatsworth" all whilst some other members had not yet been "randomly selected" from the queue.
My aspersions against you are unreservedly withdrawn.

I've got no inclination to go into the fight. I knew what I would be reading before I logged on.
What would be interesting is to actually know what sites have been booked and when.
I won't click "Follow this post" my phone will go into melt down
We booked Baltic Wharf for the 7-14 August for the Balloon Festival and to meet up with family as we've not managed to get to the BF over the years, but by putting a stake in the ground we can make it a family event
Write your comments here...see you their we managed to get to BW for the Ballon festival phew.
