At last I managed to get through to book... Great.. Filled in the details only to have a message that I needed to put a nunber in the length of caravan... I entered a figure as I'd previously done when booking last year, only to receive the same message...

    HELP

Finally got on, all 5 bookings done and all for my first choice serviced pitches. Took 1 hour 20 mins to do .

    Stick with it.

Why dosn't the club take a non-refundable 50% deposit with bookings, that would surely calm things down?

...Thats why the c&cc bookings are down and a painWink

Supposition JVB, try comparing the profitability of the two Clubs!

One Topic on this discussion has already been closed by the Mods.

On there someone states they have been successful and booked Black Knowl and yet the club say that. because of redevelopment, it will only be available to book from March. Odd!

I think it's a good system as It controls the numbers trying to get on the site so it doesn't crash, and it gives all an equal starting point to book a popular site/dates, and it's random when  you get through by hitting that button at the right time.    (
    pot luck)

Despite what CC say the system doesn't work does it?

eventually got a booking after 48 minutes. Meanwhile others have 2, 3, or 4 bookings.

Why not rolling bookings 6 months ahead And an element of non returnable deposit?

On the last accounts their membership increased by 5% and bookings increased by over 2%. They scored 95% on a secret shopper survey regarding bookings. How would the CC score on today's procedure I wonder? Frown

4 sites booked in under 15 minutes. Logged on at 0915hrs and was "in" within half a dozen clicks. Great improvement [for me] on previous years. Pity that Black Knowl not bookable. I would have thought that bookings could be made with the caveat that the
site opening may be delayed owing to delays in building/ground  work completion. Another common sense solution missed.

When finally got on - site fully booked for the time wanted. This system is not fair but what annoys me more is that nearer the time there will be vacancies from those who simply book and decide later whether they will actually bother to go!!

Deposits would definitely go some way to easing the situation as would a proper queuing system on the booking website, so that those who are lucky enough to make one booking go to the back of the queue to book their second and then at least we don't have
the ludicrous situation where some people have four successful bookings whilst others still are waiting to get on!!

Very strange this booking lark. Last year it took ages to get on, as others are experiencing this year. However, on another thread I just complimented CC IT on how much better it was this year. 3 critical ones done in the first 18 mins. 2 less so half an hour ago. It seems it is just luck of the draw.

Same happened to us on a couple of occasions. However, how is it not fair. Everyone pressing the button at 8:00 has the same chance. I would class it as very fair.

Anyone know why Carsington Water is not bookable for the whole of October when it says it doesn't close until 6th November?

As you were successful three times, before most people even got on then  I feel you are biased In your opinion.  A queuing system would be far fairer for all, not just the lucky ones?

Seemed fine to me. Slow to start with as, presumably some wanted 'prime' sites. Seems fair system

Sounds like sour grapes for what is, as far as I can see, a fair and equitable system

Write your comments here...That why I left the c&c club when they changed their terms and conditions because unless you give them 7 days notice of a cancellation they keep your deposit! When I pointed out that emergency's happen they said it was unable to
fill pitches at short notice....so pointed out Caravan Clubs late availabilty page. Reply was we DONT HAVE 1. As a person with children who goes in school hols and works it is hard enough to make sure we get time off together,I have to book 2 main hols early
if I had to pay 50% deposit today that would have been at least £300 pounds 2 weeks before Christmas would = no holidays this is the real world! this is why I love the Caravan Club

But that is not a  queue system, when it takes you back to easy book you don't go behind those who have been waiting from the start!!

CC just can't be bothered to introduce a proper system because it probably costs more money and they don't care as long as the sites are booked?

I think the CC late availabilty is a good idea and has been useful to me only on a couple of occasions but for some I reckon very usesul.
