People simply smiling and paying up just encourages suppliers to be lazy and not to offer good value to all their customers.

One could almost say that those with more money than sense are driving other people, who cannot afford the "just pay it whatever the costs" approach, away from their Club.

...That analsis  of yours does not seem to have affected the ever rising (by the figures) of site nights being taken up across the cc network

Except that, according to the CC's own figures, site night bookings are down year on year.

Their answer to a this is to keep increasing prices. Rather than improve the offering or come up with more imaginitive pricing.

...I wish you would not come up with unsubstantiated figures as the ones shown in the agm seem to be a bit different as the figures for 2015 show an increase of 25000 nights over 2014 ,and a figure of 85.7% renewing membership which is also up

Mmmm... just remind us where you spent your most recent trip away, Ian? And how many nights in total on CC sites this year?

Little wonder the CC feel that they can get away with raising prices the way, allegedly, that they do.

Me ... I'm spending more and more time on CLs and will do so again next year. Happy

As long as the club are filling their sites it is impossible to show they are overpriced. The occupancy level and increase in this indeed suggests that they are underpriced even if you are not happy at the level of charging.

Except that many sites are less than half full.......some even only 10% full.

Really, some actual facts need to be quoted, if a point is to be made.

Write your comments here...Now I do find that insulting , it seems that you certainly don't like members , whom actually use their choice to continue to use the CC .your post is reported

    If the cap fits........Surprised

    +1

oh right. It seems that Ian simply cannot comprehend the rather simple concept that people might actually think the club's high standards are worth the middel of the road prices.

Perhaps you could post some fact and fiqures to support your aguement on this Ian? Rather than just post something that is unsubstantiated.

Yes, it's true that some people will just pay whatever their favourite organisation wishes to charge, because they are blind to any of the CC's faults.

Still, when their comments comprise of nothing more than "+1" then I suppose that about sums up their ability to put forward a reasoned argument......

Maybe those people consider the CC's 'faults' to be insignificant or don't have your dislike for certain aspects of club sites. Maybe, like me, they are generally happy with CC sites.

Why should they wish to put up a reasoned argument, why should they feel that need Ian? I don't. I use principally CC sites simply because they suit me.

thats strange Ian you said yourself that on your last (I must say hypocritical) visit to one of these club sites you say we should be avoiding to stop these price rises, you said it was half empty, I'm not sure if you did maths at school but thats 50%Wink

Again where do you get these fiquires upfrom? 10% where? when? How do you know, have you been to many this year? You seem to be implying disingenuously that this is the case all the time, but as you have proved this is not the case.

Howver if you can find some proof, some facts to back up your wild claims we are listening?

Once again some are posting to imply that staying on club sites is mandatory. If you feel that its is too expensive or there are cheaper better alternatives then don't go to club sites.

I really don't get this complaining about club sites being too dear? Firstly they are not the most expensive and secondly I mean complaining like they are some essential part of life, in the same way as petrol or food. I must stay on a club site but its too expensive

Just looked at the late availibility for next weekend (9th Decemeber) it is really interesting to note how many sites have no pitches at all for Saturday and Sunday. And how many are showing only a few pitches. This is excellent for middle-ish December.
Certainly not the 10% occupancy levels quoted in this thread.

I prefer CLs but will use a CC site if there are no CLs in the area I want to tour. . Provided the CC site is reasonably priced.

If not, I would use a C&CC site. Or a Commercial site. -----The CC campsites  are not the "be all and end all" when it comes to choosing a place to pitch the van.

    Cheers .........K

We too prefer CLs, but do use CC sites. Especially with the grand children in main school holidays. We have tried all sites at these busy periods and come to the conclusion that CC sites at this time of year, although full to bursting, are very good value
compared to others in high season.....Cool

I have been a member nearly 40 years and cant remember a time when I didnt consider them overpriced and I think  Ian 's analysis of why is exactly right .

Ian seems to think that they must be overpriced as evidenced by them only having 10>50% usage?

When I last used a Club site it was full and I paid £21 to park on a sloping muddy grass pitch, this was at the end of a 77 night continental tour where I had paid an average of £13.97 a night . Judging by that I think they can charge what they like
    and still fill the sites

    ah, so cheap over there.

Sorry if you don't like them don't go, it is so simple David.

Anyway, can't have been full, have you overestimated by a factor of 10?

We found that too. In high season club prices were much lower than alternatives in the same area. Our use of club sites a few years ago was only in school holidays

That's reversed nowadays as we travel less as a family and more as a couple but it's not prices that stopped me booking CC sites in school holidays a couple of years ago. It was the hardstanding issue.  I'm not up to date on how prices compare nowadays

It's OUR Club, not a privately owned commercial enterprise.  If members don't like the prices then complain, agitate, get on the Board.

Can't say that I have pitched on a sloping muddy grass pitch on a CC site. But for a hard standing I would be happy to pay £21. I could certainly find commercial sites of similar quality to the usual CC sites at dearer prices without hardship.

Seems to compare favourably with a £21 continental site giving the amazing reported cheapness of those sites.

..So you stayed one night on one site after a a period of rain, and got a wet pitch ,in the UK where its a well known, by most, fact that the UK is not a cheap place to live and that goes for all sites from all organisations,at most times

Likewise for us too. The consistency is the most important aspect for me. You (one) could go to any site and find the same high standard in each of them.
