It's part grass and part HS. In my opinion, the grass half is nicer as it has hedges providing some shelter whereas the HS half is quite open and I seem to remember it bordering a market garden with huge greenhouses. Try looking on Google aerial views.

The Hardstandings are in an area away from the facilities, the grass area is very well drained in most places ,it is the original part of the site  before cc ,

Agree......good site, but the hardstanding area (which we chose, probably out of habit) is relatively new and rather featureless. Quite exposed to the wind too.

The much bigger and older established grass area has a variety of pitches - some in large, grouped areas and others in small, private hedged areas. We said we would probably chose the grass area if / when we go again.

Used twice in last three years. Very nice large site, one facilities block. Two halves hard standing, with planting that must be establishing well by now and grass in 'gardens'. Market garden derelict greenhouses. Got a dog walk but also pedestrian exit/access
onto almost traffic free lane, good walks too in one direction other direction into village with good food pub.  Furrther on through village, not far still on foot, access to disused railway so great walking and cycling. Red squirrel feeding station on that
too. Bus stop right outside site and another a short walk away. Can walk to the garlic farm, which has a festival, dates unknown. Access road narrow so some care needed. Whether your appetite?

Width restriction on several island roads 6'6"or for access, I seem to recall, OH ignored one and did some damage to our awning fitting . Road wide enough but lacked larger vehicles to keep higher branches in order

We liked it there,as has been said there is a new part, which we actually preferred, and the older section. The IOW has several festivals in a year. You might want to check out when they are on as they can disrupt or make very busy the transport links to the Island. I have a site review with some photos of the site here

We went first 2weeks of July last year and loved it site is beautiful grass pitches are the best can get a bit windy so pitch the right way so u get shelter from the conifer hedges. Loved the island pretty quiet when we were there lovely places to visit
and everything is within a short drive pub up the road does great food and is always busy give it a go u won't be disappointed
