So far I've not had an acknowledgment of receipt of my report of this thread, been about seven hours. I thought that it would have been automatically generated

    Bakers2

I am not sure you will automatically get a response to reporting a thread. I reported the thread not long after the OP made his post requesting whether it was possible to get an answer from the department concerned. I don't expect a personal reply, only
for something to be posted in the thread usually from the CM. I think I would also add that answers to some of these questions are not immeditely available and it can take a day or two to get the answer from the person able to give that answer. We may have
to wait until the OP gets his answer from the Club.

    David

I reported the OP with the report button adding my comments. It is the report part I was expecting an automatic acknowledgement of not an actual reply at this stage. I'm sorry if I missed your post regarding reporting. Looking forward to a response.

    Hi Bakers2

Sorry I didn't mention the fact that I had reported until responding to your post. When you use the Report Button you get a "Thank You" come up in red in the posting box as an acknowledgement, did you see that?

Ouch.... that is a bit of a sweeping statement, if it wasn't for centers and ralliers there wouldn't even be a Club.(business)

Do rallies and centres generate much money for the club? You dont pay to be a centre member and rallies are always touted as being not for profit so a cheaper way to caravan.

Write your comments here...All those Rally centres do not contribute to the finances of the CC    In fact, the CC pay those Centres lots of money to finance their rally activities, it has been said.

A cynic might say that rallying is a dying bygone activity and is no longer relevant to the CC.  If the CC removed any connection to the Rallyist community, would it affect their business profitability,??   ---- not one bit !!!.

CC sites and CL's are the future ..

    Cheers .......K

So in effect the CC is encouraging rallies to use club sites by offering preferential rates. In the same way as kids for 1p or mid week discount. I have no desire to rally and had not looked into it, but always assumed you had to pay subs and this in part funded the rally. I am surprised to hear  this is not the case.

The rallyists each pay a rally fee to attend a rally.

and as I understand it the amount is quite small and is just intended to cover admin expenses of the centre. The rally book and rallies are supposed to be self financing.

But afterall, it is still a club! Each and every member has voting rights and, each and every member has the opportunity to stand for 'office' and, if elected, become involved in those decision making committees. Centres and rallies have been part of this membership club since days of yore. When we all join we have the opportunity to join centres and we are given or have access to the knowledge about how rallies and associated events are organised and take place. Now for me I am not interested in such things and have never been on any but I do acknowledge the part they play and have always played in our club.

Same here Micky.  Have never been on rally and have no intention of doing so but I understand the people that do - just not for me. I do think that, if there is a rally on the site, it should be published on the booking page so you can make an informed decision
as to continue with the booking or look elsewhere.

Personally I don't see why they should get a discount.

I don't either but I guess that discount is available to all members if we choose to partake in this integral and established club practice.

My comments were more about the 'workings' of a members club which this is, not the event in question!

I guess the thinking is-better to have 30 Vans at a lower price than 1 or 2 coming in piecemeal at a few £'s more. Just economics. I've booked a table for 14 & been offered 10% off the Bill, same principal.

    Hi all,

This issue has been forward as a complaint to the Regional Officer and Sites Operations team, and is currently under investigation. As such this complaint will be dealt with offline.

With rallies and non-rally attendees, we will always do our best to accommodate their individual needs. When in doubt, speak to the Warden on site who will be able to help you with your stay.

Thank you Rochelle.- Well Done     --- I do hope that the involvement of the RO and SOT will result in clarity for all concerned.      With the CC producing, at the start of the year,  a list of sites where Rallies are being hosted and the dates when those
    are occuring.

That way people can make an educated choice whether to visit those sites on those dates or not.

    Cheers........K           Smile
