We had a problem with this recently, we were due to arrive during the afternoon but due to work commitments we couldn't leave early so were due on site between 7-8pm. My mum and dad arrived at lunch time, I had contacted the site the day before to say we
were going to be late and could my dad book us in & pay for us, I even gave him my membership card but no they wouldn't do it! It made what was a stressful enough journey even worse. The reason for our visit to the site was to enable us to visit my 95 year
old nan who was poorly in her care home. Sometimes I think CC rules are just a little bit over the top. At the end of the day the pitch was going to be paid for up front if we hadn't got there for the 8pm deadline they would not have been able to give the
pitch to anyone else nor would they have got the cost of the pitch!Some members welcome Warden discretion, some would rather hang them from lamposts for the slightest infringement of perceived interpretation of roolz.
Who'd be a Warden?
Perhaps the warden here had been admonished, so play safe and abide by the correct interpretation of the roolz
Some Wardnes, knowing you were going to be late would facilitate entry, pitch and payment when suited to you. Others would stick you in the late arrivals area.

So, you turn up to a busy site only to find that several of the few vacant pitches have cones on them. You are told that they have been allocated for friends who are expected to turn up later in the day, of the folk now on the adjacent pitches, Now that
would go down like a lead balloon I reckon with many of us members.Some will be advocating reserving specific pitches at point of booking next. Whoops, we've already had that debate and thankfully this practice does not exist nor can I see it being adopted.

There is an easier way than that, just put up a sign saying motorhome using this pitch and remove it when your pals turn up.

Good try but you haven't got the key fob then site staff will be indicating that that pitch is free to those just arriving. You may be in bother!
..it's working here for our friends who are co in later u sEing our old mv sign as you find a pitch then advise warden which you have gone on to receive barrier card
A fatal flaw in your subterfuge. You are on a CC site on the Cambs/Herts border, nose out, with pitch to one side occupied by a unit
where the car is parked on the near side, the next pitch on the othe side has a MH sign and you have a 45 Year Award sticker displayed in your van. Any wardens reading CT?All gleaned from your posts over the past few days. Digital footprints are dangerous.

..If you arrived at the time stated I doubt you would have paid at that time, as the office computers would have been cashed up at about 1800hrs,so you would have been just allowed on site and go to office in the morning

I can confirm you cannot check in until you arrive with the van. When we were working we would often go into two cars. OH would arrive first but could not check me in until the caravan rolled to a halt outside reception. I have no real problem with this,
there is such a thing as too much discretion. It is all to easy to see your case as a special circumstance. It leaves the wardens in a very difficult position, explaining to someone else why their case is not equally deserving.0 -

A more legitimate ploy might be to leave half a dozen kids bikes laying around on your pitch. Fourteen dogs tethered to a stake, a flagpole with some sort of whirly gizmo that rattles in the breeze should do the trick. You should have the whole corner of
the site to yourself.You don't need the dogs, just a couple of large and prominent feed bowls.
When mooring alongside a quay or pontoon one of the guys in my yacht club used to ensure that other yachts rarely rafted alongside him by hanging a few grubby borrowed nappies on the guardrail, or peg a scribbled sign on the dodgers:
'Party tonight.
Everyone welcome.
Bring a bottle'.
A car tyre in lieu of fenders works quite well, too.

You can meet up near the site and then go in together. You might still not find two pitches together though.
Doesn't apply to us as we don't travel with any other couple. I was only pointing out potential reason for others not being able to arrive at the same time. There are also sites where it's very hard to find a spot to park up and wait before arriving.

We had this a few times - always struck me as silly because then the caravan had to queue and clog up reception where if I had paid they could have just gone straight through for the sake of 10 minutes. The wardens said it was in case something happened
to the van on route and it didnt arrive - which seems silly as if something did happen a couple of nights site fees would be the least of my worries. Not a major issue but it did always seem silly to me.0 -
It does state in rule one on page 272 of directory pitch allocation may be needed in some circumstances

But we could see the wardens point - she couldn't see the van so had no idea how far away it was

Not a major issue but it did always seem silly to me....If my information is correct, one of the reasons for nott accepting a payment and giving barrier card prior to arrival of c/van is that it is a known ploy by the "traveller" fraternity who try it on then arrive with the usual

But on this site the OP has stated that all the pitches are allocated so its not like a normal site where arrivals have choices anyway...
