Rowntree Park Anyone?

Just had to cancel Rowntree Park, was due to arrive Thursday 17th Nov and depart Tuesday 22nd Nov due to projected unscheduled arrival of grandchild. Hope someone can make use of the pitch, good luck.

    Somebody, possibly from a waiting list, must have already booked as it's showing full for those dates.

    waiting list? havent seen that in the online booking system.

    what do you do, if a site is full press a button saying 'add to waiting list'?

    are customers contacted in chronological sequence of booking when a cancellation is recorded?

    sounds a really good (and very fair) idea....Happy

    Actually some sites do have a list (you need to call the warden) twice when we have been on a list for a cancellation we have been luck and got one, so I'm not complaining.Tongue Out

    I don't understand.......are you a midwife, the only one available locally? Why do you need to cancel a holiday?

    Anyway........what's all this about waiting lists?? Like BB, I've never seen anything about this on the CC web site or magazine......is it a new addition to the booking system? How come it isn't advertised??

    We phoned Rowntree last Thursday. Was curtly told " we have nothing" no mention of any waiting list.

    I have never heard of a "waiting list" I have always been told to "try again"....where do you ring to get on one? The booking line? Interesting.

    I'm not sure it would be a good idea on reflection, f sites are booked then have a waiting list on top of that there would be pretty much no chance of getting an unscheduled, lets go for it random few days away, probably prefer the " try again approach"
    a bit more of a gamble but a gamble it is, everyone loves that feeling when they say yes we have a vacancy Laughing

    If as the op you cancel and its done on line, the chance that the warden is glued to booking system for the site is pretty remote,and as it is Rowntree it would have been snapped up by the "hords" looking for a pitch thereSurprised

    Years ago we were at Moreton in Marsh and wanted to stay on for a few extra days, the warden said there was already a list of people waiting for a cancellation. Not sure though if they were already on site or not. She definitely put our names down though
    as she came back to us a few days later and we got two extra nights. Congratulations on the grandchild! You can always take a trip away in the van but a new grandchild, now that is special.

    Perhaps it's another "local" rule used by some wardens and not by others.

    Interestingly my wife was told a few weeks ago by a warden  that even when the online booking system shows a site full it may not actually be full as there has to be more than two pitches available for the online system to show a vacancy.

    As I posted up thread we have twice been put on a waiting list for a cancellation. The first time I had phoned the site to ask it they had anything available for certain dates, to be told "not at the moment" "would you like me to take your name and number
    and I'll call if we have a cancellation" they did call nearer the time, however we had already found something else. The second time we were actually on a site  talking to the wardens about what happens at New Year there. They said the site was fullly booked
    but they had a list incase of cancellations. The list didn't get started until Nov. we were 8th on the list, we got a call a couple of days before New Year to say they had had a fair few cancel due to the weather did we still want it, YES we did. I don't know
    if all sites and wardens keep lists, it could be very time consuming for all year, however doing it for special events has been very helpful to ourselves and others we have spoken to.

    ..I take it that you are talking about the system since on line booking was introduced? ,I know that if a site shows full ,there is a posibility that they may have some damaged pitches that  may be able to be released at short notice, and what warden in
     their right mind would fill every pitch on site,as there are times when some pitches have to be taken out of use as above,or someone is taken ill and needs to extend or god forbid the fire at Broadway

    was 71 hours before our booking I am now "black spotted" by the club, the things you do and go through for your kids eh!!!

    Yes since online was introduced, the first case was an AS so maybe they can be discounted, the second was 2014. As I said it was a special event and all the pitches were gone for it on booking day, I tried to get one but couldn't, all gone before lunch. The wardens only started a list around mid Nov. Differant wardens now so couldn't say if the new ones would do it. 

    I do know it was much appreciated by those that got a cancellation, we spoke to a fair few folk that had been trying to get a booking for years and always missed out, at the same time we also met a few that go every year.

    It's quite obvious that that the on-line system and what is actually the case are different. On all sites that we've been on this year that have shown full at weekends on-line have had vacant pitches and when talking to the wardens they've confirmed that
    the site was not fully booked. Always best to phone up if you are desparate to get onto a specific site, even when showing full.

    What ever you might have gathered from some of the post on here, I feel that majority of members are grateful that you're considerate enough to have informed them of the chance of a pitch on a choise site that you've been unable to take up and given some-one
    else the chance of booking that pitch. Don't worry about a slap on the wrist from HO, I'm sure that you won't become a regular non-user and you'll soon disappear from the warnings list.

    It has been stated on numerouse threads about the case of sites showing full and empty pitches on some sites  on arrival, and also as said no warden in their right mind will allow all pitches to be booked,as there are several occasions when a pitch can become
    unavailable,which would cause a problem if site is fully booked ,but could be released at short notice,
