Parking to the near side on site

We often have a porch awning and park our car across the front or very close to the awning (so that the dogs can sit in the boot [tied, of course] and be seen).
We've found on both CC and C&CC sites that as long as the 'van itself is 'on the peg' and you don't stray into an adjacent pitch the wardens are relaxed (we haven't yet had one take issue with us).

I understand the original concept of parking to a peg when CC sites were little more than fields, but times have changed.
I fail to understand why it is that the CC have to be so prescriptive about how you set up on the little bit of space you have rented. As long as you keep your rig together, what does it matter which side of your van your car is on????
Personally, I like to have the awning sandwiched between the van and the car. If it is raining, I don't get so wet between car and van. If it is dark, the awning light helps me by not having to to stumble around locking the car or walking into the tow hitch.

We are on a cc site now, there is one single person pitched the wrong side of the peg with car nearside , and we have our car also on nearside of c/van but both are not incroaching on fire gaps,there has to be a standard , but as shown here it depends on the site and awarden wthout a "blinkered "attitude

Personally I would not want the car alongside an awning as I would want to sit in it and look out but not at the car. Round the other side it is out of sight which seems a better bet. Thereis no right or wrong on this but because of safety spacing it is
neccessary to have all units spaced the same way. I suppose that whatever the club decided half the membership would think it wrong but thats life. It is not rules for the sake of it though it is potentially your life they are protecting.0 -

But as said to Jill the other day, the only difference is that you now have the option of sitting & looking at your neighbour's car beyond a foot wide strip of grass
