New Years Eve - need to plan ahead!

we're finding out to our peril that going away for New Year celebrations needs to be planned in plenty of time, what time of the year are you making plans for New Years Eve, and is there a listing of sites that do anything to celebrate the New Year?

be aware that, due to the CC bonkers systems, they employ a 'change over date' of the 3rd/4th January, whereby you will only be able to book upto the 3rd....
if, like us, you might prefer to stay for the week (no work to return for) CC insists that this has to ne done in a seperate booking later in the year when these dates 'become available'.
i have written to CC and asked if they could (possibly) move the change over of releases back to (say) 15th of Jan (or later) so as to avoid split bookings during the same popular holiday period.
Answer.....most folk go back to work on the 4th so we always use 3rd/4th....
..That'll be why some of the sites close on those dates then
We managed to get a cancellation at the Stonehaven site a few years ago and yes they closed on the 3rd

we were all over the place diary wise as our pals werent in any sort of position to commit due to their son's accident.
however, we got the last two pitches at Minehead last week, so we will all be able to get away.....
Hope you and your pals have a good time and nothing goes wrong this year. Things must be getting better if they are planning to go away.

The sites and rallies book up very quickly, I usually book early in the year. We once had a cancellation New Year evening at Hillhead, we'd booked the site with friends and managed to get tickets at the last minute.

as he and his gf are now getting married and going to live at hers (same village), pal has been tasked with selling his house...
result, sold in first week, so a bit of paperwork to do but spirits being gradually lifted.
having dinner with them on Wednesday

If you really want a paricular site for next year New Year's Eve, you'd be advised to book it on "Booking Day" which is 7th Dec this year.. See top post in Caravan Membership section.

I have only used one site over Christmas. Don't do New Year. To be honest it seems less popular than 7 years ago. After Christmas the site starts filling for NY. We usually leave 28th or 29th Dec.

New Year is the most popular but you'll find people on sites who take the whole holiday away.

I think that you'll find that vertually all club sites that are open over X-Mas will have spaces available. As usual the few "honeypot" sites might well be full but the rest won't, although nearly all will be full for the New Year.

Have just checked, bmb, and there are 53 CC sites that have pitches available over Christmas. Over New Year there are still 15 sites with pitches available, too.

Ah, New Year's Eve. Brings back memories of when I was a teenager. Since then I haven't managed to stay up later than 11 pm and can't ever recall celebrating the New Year as I can't really see the point. Mind you, I avoid birthday celebrations as well to
the extent that we are about to go on a cruise thus avoiding my 70th (much to the disgust of the kids). Maybe I am missing something?0 -

Plenty of choice then. Just to check - the sites dont do any sort of festivity other than lights/trees do they? We once went on a commercial site when it was Easter and it seemed that the Easter egg hunt and bonnet parade were almost mandatory which didnt
suit our style of caravanning (antisocial) at all.0 -
If you're talking about CC sites much depends on the wardens. Sometimes it will be quiet, others like to do something even if it's just a get together for mince pies and a drink. Last year at Moreton in the Marsh there was a marquee for a bit of celebrating. (You don't have to join in.)
