Suggestions for Feb half term sites Wales or Cumbria
Hi everyone, my husband and I are new to caravanning, literally we are in the process of collecting our New caravan nect week. I am excited but slightly apprehensive due to all the logistic's with Towing, setting up, adding the awning etc. We have watched
countless you tube videos. Thank goodness the Caravan showroom staff are going to give us a demonstration etc. Just a query as Im planning some outings next year. Could anyone recommend a good site in Wales or Cumbria or surrounding areas that is popular
with families.

Hi kilapatts - I suspect a moderator might move this to UK sites section where you are likely to get more help. I also guess it would help if you give the ages of your young and the things you like to do. Half Term breaks get booked up quite quickly sometimes so I would book early. Good luck with the new hobby and take a notepad or a recorder to the handover session there is so much to learn! I have just been helping a friend's daughter who remembered about 10% of what she was told at handover and didn't do any practicing at all before she left - and couldn't unhitch when she got back! Unhitching can be difficult especially if caravan and car are at an angle but it helps is you know what should be done! Enjoy.

Kilapatts,
If you are talking about CC sites then I doubt many are popular with families in Feb half term, its too cold(!) and most sites are probably still closed then.
I would guess you need a site which is predominantly hard standing for obvious reasons and probably near a town for something to do.....
For example the two York sites seem to have (some) vacancies......

Coniston and Southport will be open for half term next year, both very different sites but plenty to do for families locally. Southport is a few minutes from a big sandy beach and a leisure pool. Coniston is set in woods with lots of room to play and the lake shore within easy walking distance. It might be February but it's still nice to get out and about.

Don't think that I'd recommend Coniston for a first time out, or that early in the season. The road is not the easiest for an inexperienced caravanner, and the weather could well be inclement at that time of the year. They've already had snow this week on
the Lakes roads!0 -
There are only a couple in Wales open at that time, Lady Margaret Park, Chirk and Tredegar House Country Park, Newport.

The CC site at Newport is open all year. Adjacent to some lovely parkland and the activities of Cardiff Bay not too far away.
