Own San Sites and Serviced Pitches

I'm still on my original aquaroll so it's over 30 years old. Not an awful lot to go wrong with it although it is on the small size now.
Back to original post - we expected to be able to drift into North Yorks Moors (Whitby) site midweek back in September thinking there would be loads of room especially as there are no 'facilities'. Ha! All but full of us oldies!

We've used 2 'no toilet block' sites, and must say they're 2 of our favourite sites. St Agnes Beacon and Marazion...both in Cornwall. They're cheaper and tend to be quieter, in our opinion. There seems to be a different ambiance on these sites without the
to-ing and fro-ing to the toilet blocks. I think if I was a Warden, I'd like to be allocated a site without a toilet block!0 -
The non-facility sites are our favourites too, after CLs of course. Don't have any problem with filling my aquarolls and emptying the wastemaster, just part of caravanning as far as I'm concerned..

Same here nellie, being an ex gods county man, particularly like Rosedale, N yorks moors and Hebdon bridge....

Don't know why you think that they are all empty sites - many are well used and offer something that many of us enjoy.
Mainly because when looking for sites to book on X dates they often seem to come up with spaces <<<when proper club sites>>> are fully booked.
So you don't think that no facs sites are proper sites then?..

Surely there's room for all types of club sites and no need for them all to be the same?

Well I pay for facilities on sites. I don't need them but do use them. The only location that I can bring to mind with both a non-facility and a full facility CC site is on Anglesey where they are a mile or two apart. For me it is the non facility 'Cae Mawr'

Yes, why not use a CL if thats the sort of thing you like?
AD.... We use all sorts of sites, CL's, CS's, Full facility, No facility. Much prefer CL's and No facility sites, the ambiance seems, to us, much friendlier.....

As one who likes none facilities where available it does irritate me when others insist that they ought to be turned into 'facility sites'. I generally prefer them but do not whinge at having to pay extra to use sites with facilities that I do not need.
I accept that that is what many want and so if on such a site I do use the facilities.0 -

Many of us are happy with the extra peace and quiet they provide, although my feeling is that they have no toilet block because they cannot have one. In general there is usually
a full facility site not too far away in most cases.0 -

agreed, the lines between 'types' of site are getiing ever more blurred....
folk who like the intimacy of a CL are calling out for more 'services' like showers and toilet blocks, and some sing the praise of low facilites club sites....a sort of CC 'unplugged'?
we all like different things from a site....for us its location, so sometimes a supermarket carpark serves the bill of visiting that town/city (not for all, i imagine, but then again not unlike Baltic Wharf, IMV.....a posh carpark in a great city location), so to a degree location is high on many folks list as BW is always full.
then there is the 'attraction' of just five vans on a site with the 'promise' of peace and quiet.....that will also do us fine, as long as its well placed for access to other places with a bit more going on....best of both, perhaps?
yes, room for all types of site to cater for all types of customer
Not true!! There may be some who require them but the way your post reads it would appear that you're referring to all who use CLs, which certainly is not the case.

Nay problem BB, I thought that was what you meant, but others might have taken your post the wrong way in that they'd think that you were critizing CL users. I know full well that you do like to use some basic CLs at times, along with all other types of
site.0 -
All we need is EHU,(no SP's) water and cdp, prefer hard standing, but carry support mats just in case its grass.
must admit, we use gas a lot more on CL's CS's especialy to lessen the load when first connecting up EHU, I think that the fridge works better on gas....... come to think of it, so does the heater and water heater, also have a gas kettle which is a lot quicker
than the low wattage one we have...0 -

We left there last Wed. It was virtually full when we arrived the previous Thursday due to mid term (I believe) but very very quiet when we left.
