We have just returned from a weekend at a CC and experienced the rudest and most arrogant warden we have ever encountered. I cant give names or location because we have submitted a formal written complaint to CC but I just wondered how other members have dealt with or experienced anything like this. I will outline the events below.

We arrived on site just after 12 noon and located a pitch with a large grassed area to the awning side so our 5 month old pup could be tethered up but had some room to play, after the usual setting up, going for supplies and taking the pup for a walk we were just settling down to relax with a glass of wine. The Warden was doing the bin round and on passing our pitch shouted at us from the tractor that our dog was digging a hole. I emerged from the caravan to see what was going on and was stunned by the manner of this warden, I questioned what was wrong and he told me that our dog should not be on the grass, I asked what the grass was for and he said for him to cut. I said the dog was doing no real harm was secure and in all honesty was he not overeacting to which he replied if we did not like it come back to the office get a refund and leave. I said I had no intention to leave and our dog would not be moving to which he replied he would be back soon with the rules for dogs on pitches. 10 minutes later he arrived back on his little tractor with a CC leaflet on Dogs on site, he had highlighted a paragraph and proceded to read this to me like I was an errant schoolboy. The paragraph stated that whilst on pitch dogs should be on no longer than a 3metre lead, should not be able to reach the road or encrouch on to the neighbours pitch. When I pointed out that our dog met all of these requirements and that the grass area was covered in rabbit holes anyway the warden threatened us with eviction and also said he would get us barred.

During this whole exchange he never left his tractor, we are paying customers who are on holiday, now I dont expect if we or our pets have done something wrong not to be questioned but surely there is a way to approach your customers in a respectfull manner and this was not the way to treat people. We are in our 40's and run our own business employing 150 people and I know if I spoke to one of my employees in such a fashion I could be brought before a Tribunal for bullying behavouir so why should a Warden get away with it. As I have previousley said I am a proffesional person and have had experience with dealing with difficult people and as such this Warden picked on the wrong person but I am sure other members could have been very intimidated by his manner and the site reviews for this site have numerous entries complaing about the attitude of this Warden.

We have only been members for just over 2 years but in that time have visited over 50 CC sites and have to say until this visit we have found the Warden excellent but one bad Warden like this can taint the whole network. I just hope the CC take these complaints seriously and remove this Warden from the network.

Dogs must be under control when on club sites. It's a club rule.

If your Dog had been digging a hole on the grass between the pitches clearly you were not watching it and it was not under proper control.

The warden was quite right to read you the rules. He would not have been doing his job if he hadn't.

By the way, this post contravenes the posting rules on Dogs so not knowing that appears to be a confirmation you don't read the rules or think they don't apply to you.

It sounds on face value that you received less than satisfactory customer service to the point of rudeness. Some on here will not accept any criticism of wardens. I have previously highlighted poor customer service but have in the main received great service from wardens.

I still feel it's inappropriate to discuss the issue here while the matter is under investigation by CC.

However, I'm glad someone saw the inadvisability of having the original title showing on the first page and removed the thread. Whether it's correct to resurrect it is another matter.

    Hi smjdmfsf,

Whilst I appreciate the apology for the previous title of your thread, I will be closing this thread as you have already raised this as a complaint to The Club, which will be investigated. We have a duty of care to our staff, and we ask that members do not
post threads that single out members of staff.

If you wish to discuss this further you are more than welcome to contact me at
    community.manager@caravanclub.co.uk

    Thank you
