Change to charging at NT Clumber Park
As from November Clumber Park is changing how they charge. From per car to per person. Currently it is £7:00 per car, or free if you are staying on the CC site and show your receipt. The new charge is £5 per adult £2.5 per child, or £12.50 family and includes
entry into the kitchen garden. I can't see anything on the CC website under Clumber as to if the free entry will continue. However, if you are not an NT member and are visiting Clumber after November, it might be worth making enquiries.

It does not really make it clear JVB. I would think they would find it difficult to charge people walking in as there are several rights of way through the park. However, they could put pay points on the facilities and of course they are already on the
Kitchen garden. Currently the £7 charge applies if you turn off Lime Tree Avenue and go through the pay point, or if you stop on the side. That is currently done by mobile ticketers on a bike or in a van. When I was working I often used to pull up in the park
for my lunch, and would often have to show my card to the roving attendant. Lime Tree itself is a free through route, you are only charged if you leave the road. It may well be the free entry to non NT members continues. If so it makes the site price very
good value when off season prices apply.0 -
Just spoken to HO and got the following answer from the helpdesk
Hi there I haven't heard of anything to say that this will be ending. Although it could be withdrawn at any time. But for the time being
Members staying on site get free entry to Clumber Park by showing their barrier card/fob on entry. You can also get free parking by displaying your receipt from your stay on the dashboard of your car.So for the time being looks as though its continuing

If they implement it onthe areas off Lime Tree Ave it could be a big problem when you see the size of some of the parties that go on
Yes it could put a bit of a damper on them. You often see quite large groups on the run into the site. At £12.50 per family, rather than £7 per car load, it would mount up. Clearly there aim is to get more people to sign up / pay for family membership, rather than just one person in the car needing a card. I would think they would have to implement it though, otherwise too many would park on lime tree. Part of the reason for the price increase is to fund better parking areas / repair parking damaged areas.

We visit Clumber regularly and are members of the Nat Trust through the Senior Membership system which is around 25% cheaper than normal membership - however you must have been a member for at least 5 years in the last 10 to qualify. It certainly saves us
money and we do use the card even though Yorkshire doesn't have that many properties.0 -
Last time I looked Yorkshire had 20 NT properties to visit! So well worth being a member, as well as those in Derbyshire close to South Yorkshire!

Of course Yorkshire is the size of some small countries.However, would agree about being a member. We have for over 40 years and have visited some fantastic places. The family membership is good value and a family would be in credit after 9 visits to Clumber,
even if they never went anywhere else.0 -
We took out NT life membership 23yrs ago (£400 ish) and it's probably the best thing we ever did
We've more than had our money back and it's allowed us to look round some stunning properties, some multiple times.
Barring any misfortune I can probably get another 30yrs use, but I would probably have to have a lie down before I played the £1500 they're asking today

Based on imflation your original payment would be £820 today
