72 hour rule
Hi
What do you think of the rule you have to give 72 hours notice if you want to leave site early
What if there is a problem with van or motor home or something wrong at home ect

There's nothing to stop you Ieaving at any time. Just don't expect a refund if it's within the 72 hours. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me compared to the terms set by other holiday providers.
I think I'm right in saying there's no problem at all if you want to leave early in order to move to another CC site.

A problem with car or caravan can usually be fixed. When I have had similar problems I have been a long way from home. In my experience it might have resulted on an extended stay on a particular site.
As said, if you have to go you have to go. If there is a real problem then loosing £60 or £80 is an irrelevance in such circumstances and maybe the least of ones worries.

You are absolutely right, Moulesy. It's a forfeit of one night's site fee for giving less than 72 hrs notice. So, no big deal.
This is copied from the booking rules -
Leaving site early
We understand that members sometimes wish to leave site earlier than originally planned. However, we do ask that in these instances a minimum of 72 hours notice is provided to the wardens of your intention to leave site early. This enables us to offer the
pitch up to other members who wish to book the site. Failure to do so will incur a charge of one site night. 72 hours will be calculated from Midday. Please remember to check cancellation and refund policies with Affiliated sites at the time of booking as these may vary from Club owned and Managed sites.

We have had to leave a site early due to the sudden death of a relative. Although I would not have dreamt of asking for a refund at the time, the wardens were most insistent, which I felt was very kind.
Last week we had to alter our plans and leave a site two nights early at short notice. However, we booked at another cc site for those two nights and didn't have to pay any extra.

Well this thread has been enlightening, although to date we have never left early. I always thought you lost the 72 hours, or the remainder of your stay if less, unless you gave the required notice. However, I agree with others, if we had to leave early
loosing a few nights payment is likely to feature fairly low in our priorities.0 -
But, according to the rules, you only lose ONE night's fee.
I reckon that's good.

Sooooo ( and I know I should read the rules)am I understanding this rightly that if you leave early but move to another CC site you do not lose any money paid....do you just pay the extra if they next site Is dearer....or how does it work if it is cheaper
....or have I got this totally wrong0 -

cheaper ....or have I got this totally wrongI'm sure that the ease that you could change sites more than off sets the £2 or 3 per night that you may lose, after all, it's surely better than losing a whole nights fee.. Or am I being too generous?....

No its a fab deal, just wish I had known this summer as would have definitely moved on from the site we had booked into for 3 nights

It is far better than most commercial sites where you would be unlikely to get any refund.
My thoughts exactly. But not one for reading the rules had I known I would have probably moved on from the site we were on during the summer, not that there was anything wrong with the site, just not right for us.

The facts are all on page1, l think, except for the item about there being no penalty if you leave early but swap your booking to another CC site.

We were on CastleriggFarm (Keswick) commercial site a couple of weeks ago and there was a clear, large sign in reception - No Refunds For Early Departure - at least with the CC you only lose one nights fees.
Odd isn't it how pages don't work - seems no logic to it!
